lol this is way better than PS5/XSX.
A 3070 smokes a PS5, 20 TF vs 10 TF? And it's reasonably priced (only $499) and has DLSS 2.0 on top of that for even better performance.
Nvidia is totally killing AMD and these consoles.

That Nvidia want eurogamer to compare TU104 to a GA102 tell us everything we want to know :)
6x master league achiever in starcraft2
Beaten Sigrun on God of war mode
Beaten DOOM ultra-nightmare with NO endless ammo-rune, 2x super shotgun and no decoys on ps4 pro.
1-0 against Grubby in Wc3 frozen throne ladder!!

There are already cards out that are way better than both consoles', but these simply seal the deal with total and utter dominance. |
Yeah this is just straight up destruction. Nvidia is killing it.

If AMD can do better vs 3080, I won't post the shit post meme that I have in store and won't ever underestimate AMD ever again in their GPU department as I am already a fan of their CPUs. But if they don't though...
PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850
We shall see where Ampere performance land when reviews are in, so far there was no surprise here except the rtx directstorage. We just get hyped up after watching a presentation, it happens when you watch a apple presentation too.
We shall see how close I get, Big navi vs geforce 3090:
Gaming performance: Same
20% rtx advantage for Big navi
20% Gaming Perf/W advantage for Big navi
16GB Vram for Big navi vs 24GB Vram for geforce 3090
Consoles will have around geforce 3060 performance, this should be the cut-down 256bit bus card. Consoles
will have 20% RTX advantage though. For the directstorage this is Xbox technology, PC still won't come close to the PS5 SSD drive.

I wouldn't be so fast to claim that, since it seems like Ampere flops are a very different beast from Turing flops, assuming these are FP32 flops at all. I'm thinking something like Terascale to GCN, but in reverse.
According to the benchmarks above, the 8,704 Ampere Cuda cores of the RTX 3080 perform closer to ~ 5,000 - 5,500 Turing Cuda cores, clock per clock. So they are just about 60% as efficient compared to Turing. I'm not sure how RDNA 2 would compare.
Edit - I do remember, years ago, that you were once mislead by Nvidia's PR speech and believed the Tegra portable was 1 TFLOP of FP32 too, so yeah.

Something feels off about the tflop numbers. 3070 seems like it will maybe be a 10% improvement over 2080ti in some games, but they are saying that it has 7 more tflops than 2080ti. That being said, 3070 will definitely beat PS5 and Xbox Series X. Rumor is Series X performance falls in between 2080 Super and 2080ti, and 3070 is above 2080ti. And PS5's GPU is weaker than Series X's. However, you also have to remember than 3070 is $500 for just a GPU, an entire PC built around a 3070 will probably cost you around $1200. Series X and PS5 will be $500 tops, they will still be price/performance kings later this year. |
The 3070 has other bottlenecks, especially in memory speed, so it will struggle to keep up at 4k. FLOPS aren't the end-all in performance.
BTW it is absolutely possible to buy a GPU without replacing your whole PC.
If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.
The PS5/XSX will struggle to keep up with these 30-series cards, lol, not the other way around.
My wallet is ready.. for the ti.
Man.. I hate it when your girl has to leave my place to come back to you..
