Think about it for a second. Superman is a superhero based on brawl. Batman is, and always has been based on intelligence.

Now, Superman's biggest enemy, Lex Luther, is only human as well, but manages to best Superman often.

Both Batman and the Joker are far smarter and more crafty and more evil, than Luther.

The Joker has taken on the whole Justice League at once. He's just human. The Joker would straight up destroy Superman, lol, wouldn't need kryptonite, would just need Lois Lane.

Anyway, everytime Batman and Superman have fought, Batman wins. Superman is averagely intelligent, but Batman always has elaborate plots made for his victims that are one step ahead. He's the worlds greatest detective.

In fact, when Batman formed the Justice League, built the spacestation, put Superman in charge, but then refused to join himself, the first thing he did was, create a large stockpile of information and weapons in the batcave, in order to be able to defeat every superhero in the Justice League if the need ever arised.

In other words, if the Justice League ever turned evil, Batman could kill every single one of them, and he started plotting it before the Justice League was ever formed.

That's why he's the best superhero, lol. The movies don't necessarily capture the real story of how batman is portreyed in the comics and novels. You should check them out. You'll find that Superman, Spiderman, or Magneto would be severely outmached going up against the Batman.

Street Fighter IV is coming to save the day

I don't like the idea, mainly because Mortal Kombat is a joke. It's a funny joke with fatalities and an unfunny one without them. Ever since the dawn of time, Mortal Kombat has held on by a thread at being relevant because of fatalities and the many incarnations of -alities they've come out with.

I'll keep my mind open to the possibility that this could be good, but I hope that better developers are creating this, and the fighting engine is completely reworked, because the current MK formula doesn't cut it anymore, fatalities or not. Personally I'd be more excited for a DC only fighting game as I don't see MK being a selling point anymore. Still, it's hard to not get excited when the possibilities of a roster on the DC side are endless:

Batman, Superman, Martian Manhunter, Green Lantern, Hitman, and for christ sakes they'ed better have Lobo in this game. 

@Zen: I'm not so sure who would win a fight between Batman and Spiderman (my two favourites btw). Both do extensive research on their opponents when possible, both are fantastic scientists, and both are highly adaptible to rapidly-changing situations.

Now, for the differences: Peter Parker has amazing agility, and would therefore be able to dodge anything Batman tossed at him. He's also much stronger and has all the spider abilities. However, Brucie has many more resources at his disposal to help find a weakness--perhaps something that dissolves webbing or something. Also, I suppose Batty could kidnap Mary-Jane, but aside from him not being that type, Spidey always kicks her kidnappers' asses!

We must also factor in that most of Spidey's enemies are also great scientists or hunters--Green Goblin, Dock Ock, Mysterio, Kraven... list goes on...

Scientist yes, but Batman is also an excellent detective. To imagine Batman at a disadvantage going in to that fight is a streach for reality, also, I don't know how well Spidey would fare against the Joker, after the Joker poisions Mary Jane or deforms her in some way.

Midway is the perfect example of what this gens rising costs of developing can do to a developer. They are in some serious financial trouble man. Their big game Stranglehold for the PS360 cost 35+ million dollars and bombed like all hell. And now this? Yeah this wont do well at all IMO. They really failed to adapt to this gen. I would be surprised to see them making 30+m games next gen. VERY surprised.

As for Batman vs Superman, depends. 

In a spontaneous, "Okay now you two kill each other," Superman wins.  Easily.

In a situation where they both have time to prepare it really depends on the Superman. 

The original Superman concept was a person that was better in every way:  physically and mentally.  As he made the transition from medium to medium, Superman has not only gotten weaker and weaker but also dumber and dumber (also his powers have slowly been vanishing).   The original Superman and the original Hulk are probably the two most unkillable heroes in history.  Both are no longer such in more recent print.

It also depends on the Batman, though less so.  There are two main versions of Batman which I'll refer to as The Caped Crusader and The Dark Knight.  The Caped Crusader is the classic Batman with a streak of honor and kindness.  He's a good person who fights crime using his tools and his mind.  The Dark Knight is different; he's the cruel one that fights dirty, sacrifices others to take down criminals, and is out for revenge against all criminals above all else.  I'd rate the Caped Crusader as having higher odds in a fight simply due to good karma.  ^_^

I'd prefer fatalities but it's not the end of the world. Marvel vs Capcom's been awesome so hopefully this'll be in the same vein. A bit of new blood in MK can't hurt. I'm more excited about Street Fighter 4 but I'm certainly not going to slam it til I've tried it.

So this is what ive been wiating impatiently about? Next mortal kombat franchinse is MK VS DC? No Blood? No Fatalies?

On a positive note, I'm sure the game could be real fun, and Im sure it will be different (Their using the Unreal Engine 3.0)

But really, I was hoping better then this... I was hoping something samiliar to Unreal Championship 2, a 3D Shooter where you have special abilities you can use and perform fatalities when ones health is low...

On another note, I always wondered why Mortal Kombat movies failed? Mortal Kombat Characters and SuperHero characters have a lot in common, the big one is a person with special abilities. If Spider-Man, X-Men, Hulk, DareDevil, Punisher, Constantine, Superman all can sell very well in theaters, why not a Mortal Kombat movie? :(
