However, imo, they are still stupid and bring down an excellent benefit to a console over a pc game.

Umm, sorry, but I 100% disagree. one of the HUGE advantages of PC gaming over console gaming, is the ability to move your code to a far faster delivery system then an optical disk.

Only one console on the market today brings that advantage to it's users, and when companies take advantage of it they get bashed? How ridicules.

I find that a lot of industry people that I respect, often think before they talk:

The Source
Patcher

On the other hand, these industry guys who joke, make witty quips, and form opinions based on first impressions and yell them loudly, like a lot of the guys at Kotaku and 1up, the Microsoft and Sony PR teams, both official and fanbased, biased, obviously lying fanboys, and most posters on gaming forums...

...well, they're just the comic relief.

Amusing clowns, but their opinions mean very little, and mean less and less with each passing day. Respect is earned. Bitching about 5 minute downloads, the Wii wheel, and any other godaweful, unimportant, fanboy talking points because it's hip, in, or stylin, that's when you've lost me.

No excuses. Unforgivable. You get one shot. I'm not crying, I'm judging, and I've reached a verdict.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

Its a mixed bag.

Console gaming has always had an appeal over PC gaming with its "plug n' play" convenience. People want to have a solid product that doesn't require such chore-like obstacles or steps beyond popping in the disc. While Mandatory Installs are fairly benign, inconveniences like HD space and the fact your save data is tied to them is a worrisome development.

Ultimately while beneficial in many regards, Game Data Installs (Mandatory or not) create a slippery slope for lazy developers in much the same way DLC has opened the gate for after-the-fact patches in lieu of poor testing or rushed game development. However, the advantages of DLC will never be made obsolete by new disc or media formats such as protein coated discs or ever advancing laser readers capable of reading pre-existing formats faster and faster. Game Data Installs are but a mere temporary convenience in this brief transition of technologies forced largely by the superficial step forward of Blu-Ray, not necessaraly a trend of the future.

It is just ridiculous, why do people care so much about install times, every PC game has it. Also, many games have patches when they are released, so you have to wait for them to download and install too

Of course, there will be the problem of filling up HDDs, but there are still not too many games with installs

Sony could always question if a 360 will last for 5 minutes without overheating.

Seriously, these types of comments give MS a negative image of being little whiners attacking points hardly worth the trouble.

Its a matter of concern in seeing the a new slippery slope added to the Developer's arsenal much in the same respect as patches have become their weapon of choice. Its an uncomfortable compromise in the self-autonomy of the product and the standard which "plug n' play" gaming has been up until now. Console gaming gained its stronghold for a reason, people don't like the chore of PC gaming and seeing Console gaming becoming more and more the same chore is worrisome.

Would the MS haters stop whining already, its smack talk like this that is essential to MS' survival. Stop acting like this is new or that we're all in high school where you can report someone for poor behavior.

This is war, Sony and MS have each their own right to shit talk to get their version the better street cred. This game is no small deal.

Don't you dare try and tell me Sony isn't in the same game of shit talking either. That said can we put the, "I'd laugh so hard is Sony said this in response" crap to the side?
