4k 60fps should not be the performance mode IMO. It should be the default OOB option. I mean judging by the teaser it's not a massive jump in quality. Still, it's an early title.

It looks miles better. The fact that Ray tracing appears to be on buildings alone is a pretty big step visually.

That said, DS also had this performance mode. I imagine all narrative driven Sony games will offer a performance mode. At least they should be.

That’s great news for you guys. Ironically this may be due to all the teasing Xbox gamers been doing on twitter, where PS fans largely defended 30fps. Glad it worked out regardless.

Wow always finding a way to Xbox > PS, and in some laughable ways too.

Sony games on PS4Pro already support performance modes. They're just continuing with that.

It’s good they do. I’m just wondering why they chose to wait over a month to confirm this. Many fans were confused after Digital Foundry said the trailer was 30fps.

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

But to support the NARRATIVE 30fps is better.

It's only a question of perception honestly. This is obviously something that was built and will look similar to the PS4 entry, so announcing 4k 60fps as a performance mode just seems a bit off. Maybe they should have announced that that is the default option to play the game in their opinion?

Is your issue with the standard mode, or performance mode? Because 4K60 is about as good as you'd expect it to be in performance mode.

If I think about it, neither really. I will always choose a "cinematic" mode, over performance mode (if it is locked at 30 and not dipping) but the way the marketing messaging works is a bit irritating. I know that it's a standard at the beginning of a generation, but saying that 4k 60fps is now a performance mode, makes you believe that later in the gen 30fps 4k checkerboard will be the standard. All the talk about 8k 120fps was always (obviously) going to be BS, but now with all the dancing around it's obvious that even 4k 30fps might not be standard in a couple of years.

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

A good sign.

I want choice on how to play next generation.

Would like to see a 1440p with Ray tracing though.

The game will offer a performance mode that runs at 4k/60fps.

Prob with some other effects turned off i gues?

Really good news!

Well of course, how else would they hit 4k/60? Sacrifices have to be made otherwise there is no point having other options.

Because in general Sony isn't like MS. MS is constantly in contact with fans and answering questions like this and it simply isn't how Sony likes to operate. Which makes sense seeing as how the company is a Japanese company and MS is an American company.

I don't really care either way because regardless of what people are saying Sony has a history of delivering greats games and great consoles every generation. I have no reason to doubt they wont do the same this year. Hopefully MS comes and does the same because I've been meaning to upgrade my PC a bit. Between my PC, PS4 and Switch I'm in gamer paradise.
