I think a lot of the 10's for TLoU2 are pretty baffling. I mean, it's a great game, but not BotW or God of War levels of near perfection.

lol Wut?

Pretty much every AAA open world game gets a low 80's score om metacritic at least. Game reviewers generally give many games a high score. Unlike movie reviews for example. Assasins Creed oddesey, Nioh 2, The Outer worlds, Far Cry 5 etc. all got a low eighties score. So its pretty much the standard for the type and budget of the game. So a decent result all in all but definitely not the big game changer Sony wanted it to be. Its also the ball park Sucker Punch's comfortable being in. They never made a bad game, but they also never made a great game. So all in all a decent studio. I am still going to buy it though since it is my niche of game. But I think Sony is a bit dissapointed since the budget and time thst SP invested in it should have lead to what Horizon was for Guerrilla.

I'm glad you said this, as it reaffirms why I could never get excited about this game to begin with. From the get-go it looked like a title with a lot of time and production cost being put in to it, but not a whole lot of creativity or innovation. Just another big budget cinematic-esque title with quality development that doesn't really inspire.

Think I will pick it up at some point, since it still looks worth trying and could be surprisingly good. But it's not something that draws my attention away from the mountain of games I already have.

For the record, I really enjoyed inFamous and bought the subsequent games. They've done fairly well sales wise, and this game doesn't look like it'll bomb or anything. Sucher Punch's quality and performance is hardly anything to sniff at, even if they haven't broken into the top ranks yet.

I was captivated by the tight combat mechanics seen in the State of Play reveal (not the graphics or the environment). To me, it felt like FURI but with over the shoulder camera instead fixed camera angles, and I believe FURI is the best game released this generation. So I have been waiting for GoT reviews and it seems I was 100% correct with my assumptions, stoked! Sick of games that play themselves or have shitty combat, I couldn't bring myself to finish the Witcher or Ass creed because of their laughable combat mechanics and how mind numbingly easy they are to play , where is the challenge?

GoT is a definite buy for me.... if it releases on PC or if I buy a PS5 (Sony will release all of their 2020 line-up on the PS5 certainly).

From what I'm hearing, the Ps5 will be almost entirely backwards compatible with Ps4 games. Not sure if PS4 games are gonna get a 4K upgrade, though. I hope so, since I'm holding off on my 2nd playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 as well as first playthroughs of Last of Us 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Spider-Man for my new 4K TV

Hoping for a patch to fix the lip-syncing issues with the Japanese dub before I get the game.

I appreciate there are other issues with the game, especially with stealth-mode AI, but I couldn't care less because I am not touching that, I am so done with stealth-based gameplay.

A lot of the talk of sony being disappointed should probably wait til sales pour in.

Splatoon is just one of many examples of a game which which received a low 80s but outperformed everyones expectations because it resonates with its audience and makes the statement it was intended to make. Especially looking at review summaries, this game looks like it delivered on its promise and I feel people are underestimating the value of that.

I'm seeing words like generic and uninspired thrown about, which is ironic considering the core premise and what the game is being praised for is realising a Sumarai/Japanese/Feudal world like we've never seen before. Particularly because of this I struggle to see the core audience for this game being deterred by the fact it doesn't reinvent the open world formula. Was anyone expecting that from the previews? Meanwhile its social media tracking shows huge interest, so I'm very curious how this performs.

Combat looked terrible every time they showed it imho and reviewers talking about how generic the open world design is confirms a wait on sale or PS5 port for me. I have like six open world games in my backlog already, I am wore out on them.

Of course. Of course the only adjectives you use are terrible and generic.

Generic isn’t my word, friend. It’s what the reviews I read have said. Hope that helps.

Curious as to why you're willing to take the reviewers' word for the open world being generic but completely and conveniently ignore their word on how amazing the combat is? The combat has been receiving universal praise. You don't have to do much research, just look at the OP for reviews' snippets.

It's funny how so many of you, who obviously don't game mainly, if ever, on their PS4, are here just to tell us what Sucker Punch metacritic score ceiling is and then kindly highlight (or cherry pick) all the negatives that the vast majority of open world games suffer from. Oh well, I blame Phil, not much exclusives-centered discussions can be had on the Xbox forums I am afraid, so you'll have chime in here I suppose.

In the meantime, the rest of us will enjoy playing Mitsurugi in vastly bigger stages than those offered in Soul Calibur

I don’t care for much of Microsoft’s games either, so your ad hominem nonsense regarding exclusives is mostly irrelevant. And why would SP have a meta critic ceiling? Why do meta scores even matter?

The combat I can see with my own eyes, I don’t need to trust reviewers opinions on it. The design of the open world and the quality of the side quests however, i haven’t seen. And it seems like it’s another Horizon ZD in that regard, not a good thing imho.

As I said I will still play it, just not day one now. Idk why some of you get so bothered by a simple opinion.

So you will stop complaining about goopy opinion or for the matter anyone opinion against a MS game or platform?

Because we all hear you say you don't care about both companies exclusives but you make question to show your dislike for the Sony exclusives and criticize them while you would be defending the MS exclusives. And when we compare critical reception and sales strangely the ones on Sony side are much better.

If you stopped trying to pose as neutral perhaps you wouldn't get the replies you get exposing you are much more of a console warrior than most you attack for it.

Yeah I’m not going to derail the thread joining you in your crusade, soldier. Stick to the topic please.

Ghost of Tsushima is so wonderful !! finally we can play this =)

Japanese Famitsu: Four editors award 40/40 points. They take off their hats and honor Western developers, the game fulfills their dreams and shows the Japanese culture in an impressive way. It's their game of the year, currently. And its the most beautiful samurai game.
