MS will also be announcing more games in the future though, they're not going to announce everything they have at the July event. If Sony announced 20 timed or full exclusives at their reveal event this past week, and MS has already announced 9 timed or full exclusives between X019, The Game Awards 2019, and their May event, then that means that MS only need to announce 12 more timed or full exclusives on their July event to surpass what Sony has already announced.

Why would you lump together 2 events to suit your narrative? You either compare it to that weak ass event they show in june or you compare it to the potential event in july. Because if you use your example any future event could determine how a past event is received. That just does not make sense. Once you got that fowl taste on your mouth from the may event, nothing shone in the future will cleanse it.

Why are you making this a thing about lumping together events? Not all of the exclusives shown in the Sony event were first revealed there, so if he's gonna count those among the '20 exclusives', how is this any different?

Hell, one of those games-- Little Devil Inside --was actually a kickstarter from 5 years ago, but somehow it ended up as a timed console exclusive for PS5? Reading recent comments from the kickstarter page, the people who successfully helped fund the game don't seem too thrilled by this. I suppose we're not gonna talk about that rather shady business practice?

It really isn't that hard to build a PC. But the amount of time people spend on here talking exclusives, you could just buy a PC and you would have had the chance to play more games and end up costing you way less in the long run. Most of these console 'exclusives' are available on there anyway. You can just buy a console when there's a game that you really want to play launches on it.

Granted I know it isn't for everyone and not everyone like to tinker. Anyway we shouldn't derail the thread anymore xP

The issue is that it would cost the same, or maybe even a little more, to buy a PC with matching specs to the PS5/XBsX as it would to just buy both consoles. Plus, unless crossplay becomes more widely implemented, he most likely won't be able to play a lot of games with his friends, if he's into that. He'll also be locked into digital only, which may be an issue depending on where he lives and what kind of internet he can afford.

Also, the consoles can play 4k Blu Rays without struggling with the dumbass DRM these companies have in place. I dunno about him, but still a selling point for me.

By the time XBX comes to market there will be Ryzen refresh, big Navi from AMD and Nvidias new range of GPU on the market. I would think a mid range card like a RTX3060 will be ample enough to keep pace with next gen consoles. Its more upfront cost but you would be saving more over the years. After Live/PS+ yearly fee's, and higher cost per game games vs on PC. No to mention more platforms on PC, Steam/Unreal/EA so more competition and more sales. It all adds up. In a couple years that cheap console is already costing the same of even more than a PC, which you can do a lot more on than just gaming.

Just saying, the guy said he was open to suggestions :P There are other options. But I don't think the average gamer is going to be that tech savvy and deal with the faff and just want to plug and play.

I’m sure they are talking in general, not comparing conferences.  Just in general excitement about the next gen consoles.  Also, I think all the console makers have shown that one bad presentation doesn’t doom them forever.  Also, the May event wasn’t even bad, just didn’t meet expectations.

Whatever the games they’ll show or their level of quality or selling power, they should give a proper release window for each one of them. Knowing that a specific game is coming at some point is good, but if there’s not much clarity on what we can expect to play in the first year, might as well wait for the mid gen upgrade.

IMO that was the main flaw of Sony’s presentation, too much TBA for my personal taste.

After Sony's lackluster showing they really just need one unannounced killer exclusive.

Its going to take more than Hellblade 2 & Halo: Infinite to top Horizon 2 and Demon's Souls. Especially since it looked like Sony held back gameplay showings for their heavily rumored August event.

Horizon is the most critically acclaimed and best selling new IP of this generation. The sequel is primed for 90+ critically with potential to sell upwards of 15 Million. This is a tall task for Halo: Infinite in this day and age especially when looking at 343's track record. Hellblade 2 is a great candidate to be 90+ critically but so is Demon's Souls, and for the latter, it has more commercial appeal.

With that said, I think it boils down to whatever Playground and The Initiative have cooking up, since they're shaping up to be the top developers of XGS. I'd put Obsidian in there too but I don't think they're ready to show anything other than a teaser. Add in bigger 3rd party announcements, select AA titles, and MS could have the ingredients to top the PS5 conference.

To be fair, it was the same thing that happened with Scorn on Xbox Series X. Scorn was also a kickstarter game, from 2014 I believe. Scorn devs decided to make it Series X/PC only because of a few reasons. They didn't think they could hit 60 fps and native 4k on PS5, and MS agreed to market the game and give it more exposure with an announce on a large scale event, in exchange for exclusivity.

I'll admit, I wasn't aware of this. But looking at the kickstarter page the game was only announced for PC at the time, and nothing has changed other than adding Xbox as a platform. They still plan to release at launch on PC. Little Devil Inside was backed for several other console platforms, and those are currently being locked off for an unknown amount of time.

If there is another case like Little Devil Inside though, whether Sony or Microsoft, it's certainly worth calling out.

Main point, not all the exclusives shown from the Sony event were first announced there. It was already known Godfall was meant to be a launch title last year.

Virtua Fighter 6.
Armored Core VI.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

They Need Fable 4.....at launch.

Out of the 4 Killer games Sony showcased, its not going to be easy, but hears what I think will grab peoples attention over Sony's offerings, if done right.

PLAY STATION 5 - XBOX SERIES X
Ratch & Clank - Banjo Threeie
Demon Souls - Perfect Dark
Horizon 2 - Fable 4
Spider Man 2 - Halo Infinite
