Quality id look up some re reviews. IGN, Gamespot come to mind and rated the game at least 8 (not willing to look up the exact scores because I have a suspicion you don’t care). I would imagine people of different tastes wouldn’t be talking much about it and that’s ok. It’s community is healthy and thriving and that’s all you need to know.

I think Renna said all that needed to be said about the reviews.

SOT is 15 at twitch with 44.000 viewers RIGHT THIS MOMENT.

We don't know exact numbers but SOT was Xbox ones fastest selling new ip of this gen and it was at second place of Steam top sellers 2 weeks after it's release.

IGN and Gamespot has re-reviewed it and both gave it an 8. Plus, it has great user reviews on steam.

This has to be one of the most misinformed posts i have ever seen.

I can see that twitch has the last 7 days of the games activity. I tried going back but I dont seem to be able to. I would love to see the rank it had before it launched on steam. That would tell us the place it will settle down to after the hype is over.

You are really going out of your way to discount SoT. Can’t discount GP usage when it’s 10 million and growing. And I can’t stress enough that it releases on Steam and spiked despite being 2 years old on Xbox/Win10/GP PC this entire time. Despite its negative early reactions it’s still very much active. Just let it go it’s clearly not a dead game. Man if I went out of my way to continuously crap on PS exclusives despite evidence to their success CGI would get a dozen report notifications within the hour ;)

Insomiac was bought AFTER Spiderman came out and Spiderman is a game that took several years to even get greenlit. Some of the major people who made that deal happen have now long since moved on to other companies. Boys. (Now at Iron Galaxy) Johnny V (Nintendo) and others. Rare was bought in the non HD era. That era games were pumped out faster.

Ninja Theory was bought in 2018 and by 2019 they already teased hellbalde 2 and project mara. Why was this an exception?

They only teased them. They have yet to show gameplay of either. They showed an in engine model, not gameplay. NT is also a sizeable studio with over 120 people. Nintendo teased Metroid Prime 4 in 2017 and Bayonetta. Atlus SMTV. Seen nothing since. Hellblade 1 was not a large game anyway. 6 hours maybe 8 so it might be easier to get Hellblade out by maybe the end of this year or a 2021 game. Do you people really not know how game development works?

Pre HD era the average length was 18 months. Now it can average 2-4 years. Have you not noticed the slower output of most developers. 6th gen companies pumped out several sequels and IPs in 5 years. 7th gen they slowed to mostly being a couple of IPs and the rest outsourced. Some studios have the manpower and/or insane crunch to pump out more. These days it might be 1-3 games entire gen. If they have more it's much much smaller projects.

You percieve it as me discounting SoT(While I do really despise all multiplayer focused games). GP will probably keep growing, its a good bang for the buck. Of course it spiked. It just released on steam. the windows store is nothing in comparison to steam. What do you expect it to do? The thing is now where is gona settle. And as the numbers show, its droping. Patching is all well and good but remember "A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad." Shigeru Miyamoto. The game s you put it might be a good game now, but in everyone mind is still bad.

Why coulnd any of the other studios tease anything then? Yea that sucks for nintendo and trust me Im mad about metroid as well and I will also hold them to the same standard, not try to cover for them. Your trying to make excuses now. Ninja theory released a game this year, Bleading Edge, wich was not well received and has 2 other games in the works aparantly with only a 120 man crew, wich is still small compared to devs. Specially with the suposed $$$ of MS everyone keeps going on about. There is no reason to hold NT to a diferent standard than any of the other devs they have adquired.

Runa, Ok let’s climb off that high horse now. You can keep explaining the Xbox One gen till you are blue in the face. Doesn’t change the optimism me and many others share for the next gen. I’m not saying you should jump on the hype train, you clearly need to see the critical acclaim to be remotely swayed. That’s fine, but you saying it’s wrong to not prefer what you prefer with that kind of passion just doesn’t make you come off as well as you think. I explained myself, and I’m sure other Xbox fans have their motivations. We’re just excited that for the first time in years they seem to have their act together. Now you can accept that or be quiet.

I think thats where he is getting at. While there are people like you out there and nobody should tell you what to like, and you can be as hyped as you want. Everyone has their preferences and thats fine. But you seem to think that there are a mass amount off people like you out there, while you are in fact in the minority. While again, thats also fair to be. You seem to be hyping up a past and possible future that most do not like and are looking at what MS has presented and could show in the july event with just mistrust, denial, pessimism or whatever else.

Well said. I choose to believe while I am a minority with my tastes I do not believe there’s not many other then me. By that I mean there are many out there that enjoy a variety of genres. Individually they are niche (the genres) but together it can add to something big if they do it right.

Also despite all that was said and how this gen went down, the XB1 will finish this gen with 50 million. That’s pretty respectable for such a disastrous start and lack of IPs. Compare it to other “failures” like WiiU, GameCube,  Xbox, hell even Nintendo 64 sold terrible compared to PS1 yet its praised to this day. They have imo the best services and play a near identical library as PS4, exclusives being the exception of course.

All they need is to advertise they have an edge on those multiplats which again are 90%+ of a consoles library. Which I think they are doing a good job and will hammer it further next month. And finally of course deliver on their own first party selection. Obliterate the notion that they only have the trinity. I’m tired of hearing that (it’s true) and hopefully next month will extend that list. It’s no small statement to say many like myself are getting tired of waiting and need that wow factor.

I’ll just say it’s possible to have a comeback. Rainbow Six Seige was deemed a failure after launch and it turned around nicely via extensive updates and tweaking. It doesn’t happen often and it shouldn’t have to come to that, but it is a nice surprise now and again.

The reason N64 or GC even though as failures will be well remembered and X1 won't is the games.

Remove your prefferences from the equation and look at the top 10 best reviewed exclusives of N64 and X1 and you'll see.

They have already convinced me tbh. I am a gamepass subscriber and thus I use my xbox for the majority of my third party games and online multiplayer as I refuse to spend another dime on psplus after sony screwed me over some years back

..my gosh you guys can just agree to disagree and keep it moving

Both have valid points but not everyone has the same tastes. While a lot of people may not find value in Xbox games and Halo, there is a significant amount of people who still do and love playing Halo and Xbox, today. I personally haven't touched an Xbox console since the 360 because the games don't suit my preference anymore.

It might be down to support for the consoles or lack of any interesting games that I would sit down, play and complete - when you own same brand of consoles two generations you kind of know what to expect. But they have expanded their Studios from the sounds of it they might be improving. MS might not make games your liking (and personally not my cup of tea anymore), but for Xbox gamers its gonna be exciting time indeed just as PS5 imminent launch is for PS gamers.

Who knows, we could have the biggest push for 1st party titles and support in the two decades they have been in the games industry. I mean if they show Fable 4 and Perfect Dark and it doesn't look like garbage to play (sorry 360 PD sucked) then I would be pretty excited too. Being mostly a PC gamer, and the direction Xbox is going in I would bet that most games going forward are going to be playable on PC as well, day one.

I think you have to understand that not many people are so incredibly loyal to a console brand as you. It just feels that whatever MS gives you, automatically becomes the thing you absolutely wanted the most. I mean would you honestly have cared about super nichy titles like Flightsim or Hellblade 2 if they weren't on your favorite console brand? Would playing 15 year old 360 games, on a next gen console, really have top priority for you if MS didn't put all their eggs in the BC/ Smart delivery basket? Do you honestly not care about not getting any Series X exclusives for the next 2 years? And do you really not care that half of the highest rated and best selling games are Sony or Nintendo exclusives, while the only decent thing that has come out of a MS studios, during a whole freaking console generation, is Ori?

Fact is, MS has proven over and over again that they don't care about you, or the rest of their Xbox fanbase. Console gaming alone just doesn't seem enough for them. That is why they completely abandoned their core audience, when they thought there was a bigger fish to catch with Kinect, and had half of their 1st party studios making shovelware for it. MS has had its share of fuck ups and next gen is looking to be their biggest one yet. At least if their "first look at Series X games" stream is a precursor of what to expect.

So, unless you're willingly looking to frustrate yourself, it's okay to be more open minded when it comes to making your next console purchase decision. I'm still open minded and if MS really hits it out of the park on July, I'll probably still end up buying a Series X. But history has made me, and many others, extremely skeptical and they really have a shit ton to prove if they plan to win me back over.

You want to act like you know me and my interests are superficial? Ok then. Growing up I played an ungodly amount of Xcom and Xcom Terror from the deep. Advance Wars series on Nintendo DS. Xcom reboots. So yes I am VERY much looking forward to Gears Tactics and Wasteland 3, the latter being a multiplat but a 1st party game all the same. My gamertag is GhostMLD, named after the Ghost unit in Starcraft. Which I’m also a big fan of. So when they made Halo Wars 1 and 2, sure someone like you can see those as niche titles but to me they combined 2 of the best things I liked. Hellblade legitimately is my favourite new Ip of this gen. I wanted to play it so bad when it was Ps exclusive. And not only did I play it and it being better then I expected (narratively and atmospherically it nearly had no equal to me), it’s sequel is 1st party. Same with Obsidian and Fallout NV (one of my favourite wrpgs) and Outer Worlds. Can’t wait to see a sequel that actually has MSs resources behind it, OW could have been truly something special.

Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2 are games I am ashamed to say I missed when they were new but got the chance to beat them via GP. Then there’s my back catalog where I was able to beat Lost Odyssey (turn base jrpg that you just don’t see much nowadays) after getting stuck back in 2008. They were even optimized in some way when I played them on my Xbox X. So yes I’m grateful they made it work so that I could easily access this rather then shrug my shoulders and never play them. I could go on and on so yes I assure you I’m glad I have this feature.

“Do you honestly not care about not getting any Series X exclusives for the next 2 years?” I know they are optimized, I care if they are quality experiences, and I know they aren’t on PlayStation. So that makes the choice easy.

Your second paragraph imo is just light trolling so ima skip that. I can easily say Sony gives you guys great games but doesn’t put as much effort in their services. They tend to add features Xbox did first, usually years later. The one thing they did first was Ps Now but they wasted its potential and allowed Game Pass to be 5x more successful with half the instal base in only a couple years time. I just know I’m playing more games then ever and saving a ton of money doing so, and I know I wouldn’t get that same value if I went to PS. Again no offence to anybody, that’s just my perspective.

I’ll be open minded too, but from where I sit I’m going to go crazy if all I have to choose from is “3rd person story driven single player action adventures”. I can’t stress enough I need multiplayer and more genres covered. Again not baiting that’s just my genuine perspective. I like multiplayer games, sci-fi FPS, wrpgs, RTS, turn based strategy, racing and the occasional immersive story driven adventure title. I’m sorry but you have to accept that there are people like me who like different genres and Xbox definitely covering more genres then Sony. And they speak to me on a personal level, so nothing disingenuous about my opinion.

Okay, maybe it really is just a freak coincidence that all the games MS has announced seemed to be a tailor fit for your taste in games, a 80 Metacritic game like Hellblade happens to be your favorite new ip - and only game you wanted to play so bad when it was a ps4 exclusive - even though you have no interest in any of Sony's 95+ Metacritic flagship exclusives because they're all just 3rd person story driven single player adventure games...

I honestly wouldn't know if MS's services are better than Sony's. I tried GP and it was great to play Gears 4/5 for $1. PS Now, I honestly don't give 2 shits about. Stuff like services are just a bonus to me and definitely not something a console platform should hang their hat on. In the end people will buy console X over Y because it has the games they care about. Sony caters to a wide audience with their exclusives and isn't afraid to take risks. Do I buy them all? Hell no, there are plenty of quality Sony exclusives I don't care about either. However, Sony has proven time and time again that they deliver with plenty of games and fresh ip's I do care about. MS, however, has pretty much done the opposite.

Like I said, I'm totally open minded and I do actually hope MS will prove me wrong in July. It's just that I got this gut feeling I'll be able to predict exactly what they'll be showing, and it's not going to be enough.
