Forums - Sales Discussion - "Official" Xbox One total shipments at just under 50 million.

Jon Peddie Research group published last week that AMD has sold shipped 553 million GPU's since 2013. And released a breakdown of these GPU sales shipments:

With these figures we can see that Playstation accounted for 20% of GPU sales Shipments.   20% of 553 million is 110.6 million. Which we know is very close to Sony's sales figure updates.

Which leaves the 9% of the 'Xbox One Series' at a total of 49.77 million sold shipped.

shipped "<>" sold

Having access to 49.77 million chips, isnt the same as useing every single one of them, and selling them to consumers.
Clearly theres like 500k-1m on shelves in stores, and there might be another 1million+ "chips" not yet made into consoles, sitting in a warehouse.

Updated the OP to say it's Shipments.

The figures are likely estimates by a research firm and not a direct report of AMD's financial data. Additionally, all of the percentages are round figures, so there is a sizeable margin of error because half a percent of rounding already amounts to more than 2.5m units.

The numbers likely go up to the date March 31st 2020, so Sony's 20% match closely with their actual shipments of 110.4m PS4s by that date. However, that figure is what Sony has sold to retailers, not what they have produced. Meanwhile, for AMD it is what they sold to Sony, so that would exceed 110.4m in any case.

In any case, this is too rough to allow any definitive conclusions. Due to the rounding of the percentages, AMD could have actually sold more than 50m GPUs to Microsoft, but also less than 48m.

Lastly, VGC tracks sell-through figures, not shipments. Sporadic numbers by NPD and GfK have proven to be more reliable for global sales estimates than estimates by research firms.

The use of a research firm and rounding of percentages is why the official is in quotation marks.

Vgc is seriously underrated and gets too much unecessary criticism.

As of 2017, the Xbox sales was really overestimated.
It was later fixed though.

Seems like close to VGC estimatives, so both are in similar numbers, very good. Perhaps when XSX launch we will learn how much X1 sold, they may do those announcements of the fastest selling xbox ever.

When the series x outsells it they might say it, especially if it does it quickly like in just 2 or 3 years.
