Not if you read the official manga (Prince of Eternity) written to take place after the canon ending of FFX-2.  Kind of ruins the whole thing honestly, and yes it was made into official canon.

I like to think that Trip and Monkey were in love in Enslaved. But I don’t remember the details of it anymore. I’m pretty sure Pigsy was in love with a sexbot in the expansion.

I haven’t played many story driven games.

John marshton in rdr did a lot to get his wife and son back but he didn’t seem at all in love.

Naomi and Ryo in Shenmue was interesting with her riding on the back of his motorcycle after he rescued her. She created a whole mood in that experience.

This is true.  In the original story, it was great.  That comic did nothing but piss me off.  🤣
