Really pokémon is the game of the year. Death stranding is an odd choice for many of the awards but ffs Pokémon SS doesn't deserve any GOTY award. The list would have been better if it was only Astral chain and Sekiro.

Its a fan vote apparently.

I don't think it invalidates it, nevertheless. If fans in Japan like Sw/Sh, I don't see what's wrong with that. It's ok to like or dislike the games. Apparently, some fans in Japan have different tastes (shocker!).

And before people talk about sales being a factor, only S/M and D/P won in their respective years (I may have mixed one or the other titles, but regardless...).
