Yeah... I think this is going to be the first gen I don’t get any consoles at launch... $500 bucks is a lot... and I hardly play games anymore... just buy them and never play them... might be time to start pulling the plug...

I know you weren’t talking about me as a person but the word carries weight regardless. What part of PM do you not understand? Keep the forum topic intact. |

I’ll PM you if I want. And right now, I don’t.
In my Opinion
$500 is too much for the PS5.
Market analysts, specially those Sony stock/bond holders do not want Sony to launch a cheap console or at a lower price. They are confident that if Sony ask the same amount as XSX, it will sell just as well. To me that is an error.
For example , because an item has a manufacturing cost of $97, doesn't mean the MSRP will be $100. Hundreds of variables come into play determining the final price. Long gone is the era when only hardware and software bring ups revenue. PSN brings a lot of revenue, that already has paid for its infrastructure and can easily hold some to adjust PS5 final launch price. Sony already has a winning formula by being $100 cheaper, they just need to stay true to that path, one that is shared with their vision not long ago discussed about bringing PS5 adoption faster than ever before. If they in fact launch at $500, they risk a fate similar to the ps3 launch. Microsoft can easily match their MSRP, but they wont't. Spencer said they will never be again outmatch in price and performance he meant in having the weak system selling at a higher price like Xbox One S did, but he didn't meant they will eat $100 or $150. If they really wanted to eat that much, we would have seen Xbox One @ $99 and the Xbox One X at $199.

I do not care on any level like at all. It's not even something I've thought about. Same with controllers I could understand why people care about that more but I've been gaming since I was 9 with my NES. Give me a controller, 10 mins, and I'll show you how to use it. I've gamed on almost every system ever made except for a small few and I've loved them all. I've hopped from PC to Xbox to Sony and well this gen I started making F U money so I've owned them all at some point and they were all great. I think people who view this as a competition care cause they want something to hold over someone online. I guess when you can join and be apart of whatever team you want cause money isn't an issue you just don't care. The only loyalty I have in gaming is to gaming itself. Companies come and go in this business but gaming always sticks around. |
Not really man. Several of us can own all console but still have preference or even choose to play a single system.
About the looks of the console, I certainly would prefer a good looking one, but I don't really concern with it because in the end I won't be looking for it much but the games I will.

From what we know Sony have a target price and sales projection. For they to close the price basically they are refining the cost analysis (bean counting the cents they can shave in cost in production up to like 3 months before release, or let's say start of mass production) and will wait until about July to reveal, possibly giving themselves time to reduce cost and to see if MS reveal price and they can be more at easy on choosing their price.

Derailing topics to satisfy your own high horse tendencies. You continued to derail a topic to satisfy a false sense of moral superiority (because it’s just video games) when I asked to take the convo private. You aren’t much different it seems.
There is nothing wrong with taking industry news and rumours and seeing how a particular console fares in relation to its competition. Because nobody ever brings up PS in a Xbox discussion......

Its Sony's fault why there are many rumors. They aren't talking enough about the PS5.

XSX will also cost $500. Both will retail for the same price. XSX being slight more powerful doesn't make Sony need to underprice the PS5 price from the XSX at all. |
XSX cost more when you count the size of the APU and the amount of CU, it has around 30% more capacitor on top of that it has bigger RAM bandwidth and bigger SSD capacity. XSX are were design to be expensive, while PS5 were intended to be cost less aiming to be closer to 399 USD or closer to that .
The problem is the RAM and Nand is expensive due to trade war between Japan and South Korea and trade war between US and China on top of that Corona virus that cut every memory production and supply.
What make PS5 and XSX close in raw power is because Sony able to overclocked the APU very high and close the gap. Dual sense controller also will be expensive on Sony side but it's not that expensive when you compared to dual mother board inside XSX and the tower designs will be more expensive on Microsoft side.
On top of that Microsoft are planning to have Xbox Series S A.K.A lockhart as a cheaper version. So XSX will be above PS5 in price while Lockhart will be less then PS5

There is nothing wrong in pointing out you’re doing it all to stir shit and keep the stupid "console war" mentality alive and kicking.
