Has anybody finished hard mode? Any preperation tips? I know that I will be maxing 6 hp and mp plus materials, if it's possible to get more magic plus materias I might consider replaying chapters to get them.

I'm most worried about the spongey levels. How much more Hp do enemies.... And bosses have?

No game+ available to keep your level?

I just finished chapter 14 on Hard. There are only 2 magic plus materias. Not sure about the HP but bosses become much, much harder. You have to learn their mechanics and different phases to beat some of them. You'll particularly enjoy Hell House ;)

The regular enemies will be a breeze at times, or once you equip the right materia. Managing of MP throughout a chapter is important. Magnify and Elemental will be your friends. Go check out chapter 17 battle simulator for some new fights or quick AP.

Good luck!

Yea but you can't use items (which isn't to big because I barely used them) and biggie is no MP restore except at the start on new chapter or some quest.

Understood, but if you are keeping your level you will be able to accumulate items during the start of the hard run won`t you?

I'm not sure what you are asking? You can't use items at all on Hard Mode so not at all worried about accumulating them. Before I do Hard I will get any non hard mode trophies and grind any materia out.

Sleep and stop helps a ton. You can cast stop on a boss you staggered, and get more free hits. The stagger gauge stops going down when you stop the boss.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?

Piece of advice for anyone who hasn't finished the game yet (not a spoiler) : In Chapter 16 when you have to enter a bathroom, save once you get there. There's a bug in the game that can soft lock you and leave you no choice but to return to the title screen. If you haven't saved it's possible to lose a lot of progress. Luckily, for me I had saved 10 minutes before that point so I didn't lose much and only had a few cutscenes to skip but you can easily lose an hour or more.

Not a story spoiler but let's not take a chance for newcomers.

Spoiler!

Another nice touch from the game, when you meet him in Hojo's Lab, Red XIII strikes the exact pose from his character art from the original:
