2m or less you need 4k on 65"more or less.

I would say 3m, 42" you can be satisfied with 720p.

Ah, found the chart I was looking for, and sure enough it looks like 42 inches at 3 meters falls right in the middle of "720p worth it".

I like big screens, sitting near and crispy graphics =] but I'm glad that you are happy with what you have.

Around the Network

I consider it an acceptable resolution for gaming but outdated for games which rely on graphics, otherwise Wii 480p is okayish

youtube update is stupid, 720p is still high enough for e.g. music videos, but now when you search for HD, 720p do not show up but would obviously be good enough :/

this makes finding high quality videos much harder, especially for older videos - dick move youtube

don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

I bought a 55" 4K TV back in mid 2017, and I normally sit about 8 feet away from it. Once I started viewing content in 4K after getting an Xbox One X later that year, I immediately noticed an improvement. Details that were once fuzzy in 1080p became clear. The picture in general is noticeably sharper. Old 360 games running at 720p are almost unbearably blurry to look at now.

4K is definitely a substantial enough upgrade to where I wouldn't want to go back.

Ironically... Console gamers used to brag about their visuals during the 7th gen... And us PC gamers were like: Wha? Glad console gamers have seen the high-resolution light.

And there I was spending the majority of that gen playing in glorious 640x480 on Wii haha.

Cheers. Glad you're happy with yours too.

I actually didn't even consciously choose my setup look as good as possible; when I moved into my current flat I setup my TV and couch based on the width of my living room rather than resolution vs viewing distance, and I chose my current TV cos it had a really good deal going when I went to get a replacement after my last one died.
