Ironically... Console gamers used to brag about their visuals during the 7th gen... And us PC gamers were like: Wha? Glad console gamers have seen the high-resolution light.

And there I was spending the majority of that gen playing in glorious 640x480 on Wii haha.

I actually didn't even consciously choose my setup look as good as possible; when I moved into my current flat I setup my TV and couch based on the width of my living room rather than resolution vs viewing distance, and I chose my current TV cos it had a really good deal going when I went to get a replacement after my last one died.
