I'm just analysing the current scenario that's all.
I'm sad that Trump is losing, but in a democracy, presidents don't hold as much power as people think.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

If Dems take the presidency and hold the House I'll celebrate. If they lose the House I'll at least be able to breathe with Trump out. If they lose both I may take up alcoholism.

We are in the middle of a pandemic, yet no one, on both sides, had a problem with the mass gatherings that arose because of the election, nor were the eletions given an extra day of voting to give people more time and thus to avoid so much people in one place, to prevent further infections. Just saying. Plus, if you see the live stream of the counting in some states, you can see that the people responsible for the counting is not respecting, for the most part, any of the recommended distance that should be kept, and all the usual precautions given. So this delay is surely not because of the pandemic. Mostly, anyways. The election is not over. Let's wait until the end if the democrats dosen't pull a similar stunt. And just out of curiosity: Asking to stop the votes, assuming you have a legitimate reason for it, is illegal in any way? Trully curious. |

Just saying... what? This has nothing to do with the fact that the votes are taking longer.
But beyond that they DID have several days of early voting in virtually every states.
You know what else they did to prevent gatherings? THEY LET PEOPLE MAIL IN THEIR VOTES.

Dude... what? It's taking longer cause there's tons of mailed in ballots and republicans have stopped them from being able to count them early. In states like Florida and Ohio where they could, it went quicker.

I don't think I at any point addressed the illegality. I said that it's undemocratic. It might not be if there was some kind of legitimate reason, but, none has been presented.
As for whether or not asking to stop the votes is illegal when there is no reason, probably not because there's no actual power to do it. It is antithetical to the foundation of democracy and destructive to our country.
If he actually could do it, that would literally be the end of American Democracy. It's not that Trump is not against Democracy, it's that we have strong enough institutions to prevent him from succeeding.

Leave the emotions out of this for a second, and analyse it with facts. The conclusion you can make from this election is that the country is exactly split in half, and that most compaigns were not about facts, but rather about beating the oponent, because " he is going to destoy America, and we must fight for the soul of this country". Like most people have been saying, the most important task for whoever gets elected will be to heal the wounds of the US democracy, and that will take years, and will be a full time job. Not only that, but even if Biden wins, it seems that the republicans will have majority on the Senate, blocking many of the projects that Biden would have (and hopefully keep in check most radical projects that the far left inside the democrats would want to pass), and the House seems to also be evenly split. That will make for a very weak government, because they will have to be constantly negotiating projects and anything the republicans don't remotely aprove, they will stop it from going foward. So yeah, nobody wins in this scenario. |
Yes, let's analyze it according to facts.
If Biden wins, he is president and Trump is not.
Biden wins in this scenario.

I look at the House numbers and it could end up Biden vs Congress. Dems losing seats front, left, right and back....
The US has lost no matter what, the World looks on in disbelief that half of the country still wants the most dishonest President in living memory in power, such a wounded country

You said that the counting might be taking longer than usual because of the pandemic, and that the people counting might be in smaller number because of that(to have the appropriate distance and all).
So I just pointed the hypocrisy, in this case, of having no such restrictions for actual citizens that went to vote, about a maximum number of people in a certain place(because lets face it, even with the mail option, most people would still go out to vote in person). But when the actual counting is concerned " Nooooo the pandemic!!!!! We need to be careful". Not that I agree or disagree, just pointing out the inconsistency of that argument.
And Wein, it's been 2 full days. It will probably take 4 or 5 days until this is over. Its not taking a bit longer. It's taking alot longer. The delay is not proportional to the increased ammount of votes, compared to other periods.
