Wishful thinking at best. The majority of Final Fantasy's sales come from PlayStation. Also DQ and Persona mainline games have to drop on Xbox first before they even see if the interest in buying those companies are worth it FOR Xbox. I know you were being facetious, but it still failed. Also those 3 gaming series are vastly popular on PlayStation. There's no way either of them would go to Xbox exclusively at all. Dragon Quest as well seeing as the Nintendo fanbase is just as big as the PS ones.

Why though? Microsoft doesn't do well with the JRPG crowd and never has...and has a history of ruining franchises over time. 

God of War's best selling and best reviewed game was 2018's. Uncharted 4 was the best selling in that franchise and was favourably compared to Uncharted 2 - the highest ranked in the series. Sony has been doing great this gen plus making New IPs (Horizon: Zero Dawn and Bloodborne are great examples). whereas Microsoft STILL hasn't done anything good with Rare, and its Halo and Gears of War franchises have been slowly but steadily dwindling, with Forza being the subject of controversy, too. 

This is why I just sort of shrug when Microsoft buys smaller devs but I get excited when Sony does the same. Sony is trending up, while Microsoft is trending down; Sony has a good history of letting their devs experiment and have fun and make new IP while supporting them, while Microsoft ruined the #1 developer of the 90's (Rare; I'm still salty over that and will continue to be so until it's fixed). 

So I'm genuinely curious why you 'hope' Microsoft buys three franchises that it traditionally does poorly with amidst a history of not really doing all that well when it comes to exclusives.

The rumor is Sony would be buying the IP to games that haven't had one made in 5 to 8 years.

Persona Royal comes out this month. FF comes out a week after that. DQ builders came out less than a year ago.

Not to mention those sales would crater and die if they were on Xbox only.

You expect Microsoft to spend billions.. and let series die for pathetic revenge?  Revenge over.. nothing seeing as how those IPs haven't made games in 5 to 8 years.

when it comes to games, some people just don't use their brains. ah well, we live in reality, Ashadelo doesn't.

Imagine if MS brought the Witcher IP? or Nintendo brought the GTA IP just to lock them away from others to buy.. anti-consumer at its finest.
Buy the damn companies or leave them be in my opinion.

Kojima on Silent Hill and MGS as PlayStation exclusives is better than Silent Hill and MGS multi-platform without Kojima.

And Sony has a great history of allowing developers to work with creative freedom.

They didn't, and if they did I have a sneaking suspicion you would be celebrating it, wouldn't you?

MS did buy Ninja Theory, Double Fine and several other studios that will now be making MS exclusive content or did I dream that? Were you defensive about those as well?

I am necro bump this old tweet from Blue point.  It was speculated that Blue point are remaking Castlevania , along with Metal Gear Solid and Legend of Dragoon. There is might some truth to this report (rumor)
