Netherlands missed an update today.

Netherlands stopped reporting daily because the numbers are so tiny and they feel like it isn’t worth the hassle anymore. There’ll be a weekly report every Tuesday from now on.

Wow, weekly.... There were still 15 countries with lower daily numbers than the Netherlands in Europe who still do daily updates. Plus now is the time to be vigilant about tracking the spread, certainly when you jump straight to phase 3 re-openings.

Oh well, meanwhile in Prague

People in the Czech capital, Prague, built a 1,600-foot table and held a massive public dinner party on Tuesday, to celebrate the end of the country's coronavirus lockdown.

"We want to celebrate the end of the coronavirus crisis with people meeting up and showing they're no longer afraid to meet others. That they aren't afraid to accept a bite of a sandwich from someone," Ondrej Kobza, the Prague cafe owner who organized the event, told the Agence France-Presse news agency.

Czech was tracking above the Netherlands after a recent new outbreak.

It's not like they're not tracking anything, they'll just won't report to the public daily anymore. The government will obviously know if on any given Thursday shit hits the fan, they don't have to wait until the next Tuesday. We'll live.

True, it won't turn around / accelerate that quickly anyway, yet you think China wouldn't have gotten any flack about switching to weekly updates not long after getting below 100 cases per day. Just kinda odd when transparency is the only way to keep people's confidence in the government up nowadays. Cancelling the daily press conference is expected yet how hard is it to just stick the numbers in a publicly accessible database.

Quebec wanted to switch to 3 day reporting here after getting where the Netherlands is/was and got immediately called out for it and is now back to daily reporting. In fact they were the only ones to report on the national holiday together with Nova Scotia (reported 1 case)

Anyway I never thought highly of the Dutch government's transparency. I lived in Amsterdam during the Bijlmer disaster (El Al plane crash) and whether or not anything 'fishy' was going on, the government left way too much room for conspiracy theories and paranoia to surface.

As well as the fuck up with Dutchbat in Sarajevo, the Sabrenica massacre.
(I left a few months after the assasination of Pim Fortyun)

Just a little background why I'm a bit wary of the Dutch government :)

UV-C light production ramping up
https://toronto.ctvnews.ca/ontario-company-claims-their-ultraviolet-light-system-can-kill-covid-19-1.5006546

A company from Kitchener-Waterloo says that businesses should consider using ultraviolet light to stop the spread of COVID-19, instead of conventional cleaning products. “Wherever the UV-C light touches, wherever the light reflects, you get a 99.9 per cent kill rate,” President Gib Wood told CTV News Toronto.

The company says it has installed five systems in businesses in the Kitchener-Waterloo area including a restaurant and a truck stop bathroom. Gib claims the wireless automated disinfection systems can safely eradicate COVID-19 using UV-C lighting. “We think of this as the next generation of sanitation" Gib said.

The fact that the coronavirus can live on surfaces for hours to days after the droplets fall on a surface, a plastic or metal surface, you really need effective cleaning, that completely bathes the room,” Dr. Bruce Mazer said. While it could take a person an hour to clean a room, the robot can do it in about 10 minutes, but has a cost of $120,000. Alternatively, Spenergy says its lightning systems are stationary and can keep rooms safe for several dollars a day. “For three dollars a day you can sanitize a room is what it works out to" said Gib. UV lighting could also be used sanitize subways, classrooms and long term care homes and could be more cost effective to kill viruses than a large cleaning staff.

And should be installed on central air systems imo.

Not for personal use!

The light is so powerful that no one is allowed inside the room when the device on. UV lights should only be used on surfaces and not your skin. You may see products being sold online that claim to kill the virus, but some of them have turned out to be fakes containing blue LED lights. It should be noted that the World Health Organization (WHO) advises against the use of ultraviolet light to disinfect hands or other areas of your skin. The WHO says that UV radiation can cause skin irritation and damage your eyes.

We had 26 new cases today (last 24 hours), be we reported it.
How much of a hassel is it really to count daily numbers? and report them daily?

We have like 400-500 active cases, and 29 people hospitalised.
9 people in the ICU.

Doesnt mean coronavirus is gone, and it still needs to be kept under controll and kept a good eye on.

The thing is this virus isn't front page news here anymore so nobody really cares anyway whether or not they report stuff and everyone's been going about their normal business for the most part for a while now. Government approval is actually at a decently high rate these days, people trust them enough, and current prime minister Mark Rutte will win the general election of early next year with ease.

EDIT:

Oh wait I forgot, they do still have this website which they set up a couple weeks ago which shows some current stats.

Apparently too much.

But like I said in the other reply, the central health agency is obviously keeping track of it just fine.

The mark of the Beast is coming. Get your soul saved. Its Gods will. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/health/coronavirus/people-in-alabama-are-throwing-covid-19-parties-with-a-payout-when-one-gets-infected-official-1.5007903

Some young people in Alabama are throwing COVID-19 parties, a disturbing competition where people who have coronavirus attend and the first person to get infected receives a payout, local officials said.

The parties are being held in Tuscaloosa, and infected people are urged to attend so others can intentionally contract the virus, City Council member Sonya McKinstry told CNN. She said she heard about the trend from fire officials.

"We thought that was kind of a rumors at first. We did some research, not only do the doctors' offices confirm it, but the state confirmed they also had the same information," she said.

During a presentation to the City Council this week, Fire Chief Randy Smith also said young people in the city are throwing parties with a payout if they catch coronavirus, McKinstry said. The first person confirmed by a doctor to have coronavirus after the exposure wins the money made off the ticket sales, she said. Over the past few weeks, there have been several parties in the city and surrounding areas, and probably more that officials don't know about, she added.

What the hell? Some people just want to watch the world burn or something?
Why would you want to encurage the spread or purposefully infect others?
