Though Horizon is set to release on PC this month, I don't expect it to quite be on the level of what we've seen from 2020's best lookers (obvious, given the original source's age), but I'll still be keeping an eye on it.

I'm going to be honest here, I don't think you should bother. The same was said for Death Stranding and you posted a few shots and well, you didn't sound enthusiastic about it, and going by your say on HZD, it sounds about the same.

Just focus on the games you love the most, and let others post shots for games like DS and HZD and what not instead.

Horizon is a port of a 3.5-year-old game (which will see typical PC improvements, but won't reinvent the game's visuals). I'm not too enthusiastic about that right now and will make my own call on posting shots based on playtime/word of mouth. Death Stranding looks better on PC, yes, but I'm not much more enthusiastic when it's not a massive difference. Irrelevant overall, because others may feel different and can post shots if they want to.

Also, no need for a pointless argument or derailment on the matter (this is mainly aimed at that "games you love" comment).

People will post shots when they feel they want to (and some are for a recently released first party game), that goes without saying.

I've no means for any argument in terms of your enthusiasm here, what I was getting at is that you seem to force yourself to say something about these ports, but then follow it up with "but it's not as good as X first party game", which feels defeating to say the least.

It's also no means of derailment, I'm just less enthusiastic about hearing the same story over and over, about how X game isn't as good as TLOU2 o Ghosts, or how any other game will never hold a candle to the for years to come. Yes I know it's my choice to just not see this thread, but I'm interested in it, but I'm not interested in hearing the same story, which was why I offered the advice of "just talk about the games you love" part.

I'm just eagerly anticipating some ultra Flight Simulator screen shots. I guess I can make them myself but I doubt my laptop can handle ultra settings with 6GB of video ram. Don't need no fps for screenshots, the 8K ultra screens I took from Elite Dangerous took almost 30 seconds to render each haha. Yet with those size textures, 6GB is not going to be enough.

I'm still going through Tlou2, had a 2 week break when GTS had good courses on. It's still great, still marveling at the (static) lighting and playing with the flash light. Looks like I won't have time for Ghost of Tsushima before the 18th (Creaks and Cuphead to play as well) More Ghost shots might convince me to make time, hint hint ;)

Ghost of Tsushima certainly isn't up to run on the technical side of the graphics, but on pretty factor it trumps it imho.

I still have to finish or rather continue with the last of us. GT Sport interrupted with a few good weeks of races and now FS2020 is taking all my time.

A couple shots from my ongoing tour all real time and weather. Approaching St Johns New Brunswick for a nasty fog landing.

Heading for Gris Fiord (Northern most airport in Canada)

Crossing over to Qaanaaq, Greenland

It looks good without clouds as well :)

And that's all on my shitty laptop :)

I beat TLoU 2 a couple days ago on a base PS4 with HDR on a 48 inch LG CX, playing through its entirety in a dark room. I can't imagine graphics being any better on a base PS4. Maybe RDR 2 beats it, but my memory of that has faded since its launch. I'm more excited for next-gen than ever. What does a Naughty Dog game at the end of the PS5's life-cycle look like?

Sony, if you're reading this, do something new with The Legend of Dragoon. You will make me a happy man. Thanks.

Now, I can present a more proper set now that I am a few weeks outside of beating the game. As I said back in June, this is it for current gen. Nothing will top it and, at times, it looked so good, it made me realize just how much of the tech I said they'd be using happened sooner than I thought and it makes the prospects of next gen that much more exciting, even for a guy with daily access to better offline visuals!

It can't be stressed enough how good the forest level looks. As in, it is unbelievable that what you see is in game. It's crazy! And Naughty Dog has the best hair in the current gen (PS4's compressed photos still don't totally kill the look)!

TLOU2 level of detail and photorealism is unmatched on PS4 for sure, and that end chapter battle on the island and then running away on amidst the flames was breath taking... but well on the pretty side I still go for Ghost of Tsushima.

Nope.

I haven't played RDR 2 since launch but I remember being wowed by it. Like I said, I can't imagine a PS4 game looking better than TLoU 2, so I'm curious: What does TLoU 2 do better than RDR 2?

I honestly thought REmake 3 had something going for it. DS looked a lot blurred and oiled, so not much visually there that gets me.

That said, next gen games are something I'll be keeping an eyes on (hopefully something visually detailed that isn't a PS 1st party game).

Character models, environmental detail (especially water), and reflections. Then, the animations, which are unmatched by any game out there.

I can get behind that. All the little details on the characters and environments. Especially the animations. Facial and otherwise, they're the best I've seen for sure.
