There's plenty games on PC game pass I'd like on xbox, it goes both ways really.

Usually, in most cases it's either games that are not on Xbox at all or the games that already left console GamePass collection.

The same way devs needs to port the games to win10 store, they also need to port to xbox.

Not having a xbox version doesn't excuse anything on games that are on all the other current systems on this planet, aside from xbox.

Bad comparison just purely based on a difference of effort required to bring a game to win10 store and xbox. Porting a game to win10 store is just a click of a button more or less, maybe a small code update to handle social services through XBL instead of Steam. Porting a game to xbox is ordering dev kits, lots of additional QA testing, getting regional certifications and so on.

Game Pass PC has 257 titles, Game Pass Xbox has 377 titles.

Not to mention Windows Store is awful and has been awful for years, the Xbox Apps are buggy as hell, Game Pass PC was in Beta for months and was also extremely buggy, EA Access for Game Pass PC was delayed for months and in the end has to be ran via the EA Access Desktop App. I honestly think developers just don't want to deal with Windows Store cause it's a mess.

These titles are already on PC, already on Xbox, in recent history Xbox has made an effort to unify the kits to make porting across Xbox/PC seamless and yet developers still ignore Windows Store, cause it's awful, I don't really think we can deny that, and I think if Microsoft are paying them for Game Pass Xbox (and the title is on PC) they should also be paying out for Game Pass PC too because Microsoft 100% will need both to make Game Pass a major success.

It's not the same if we're talking about developers whose sole focus has been PC, who do not make console versions of their titles, like Crusader Kings, a lot of these PC only titles simply won't work on consoles without gimping them down or forcing a keyboard/mouse requirement, this is the case for Age of Empires, you can say Halo Wars 'works' but it is a very much gimped RTS due to consoles.

There's also the fact that Microsoft started out on PC and yet completely abandoned them during most of the 360 era, the fact is Microsoft have supported Xbox players for way longer than they have PC players who they abandoned and screwed over (GFWL), we have received from Microsoft far more content than PC players have, they still don't have a significant back catalogue of Xbox's IPs, we do.

Hell we're even getting Flight Simulator, a franchise that started out on PC, has never in its life touched consoles. I know we're Xbox players but I mean, it's kind of well known the PC experience for Microsoft is kind of trash still, Microsoft 100% needs to put in a lot more effort there, they need to restore the good will because PC players rightfully so feel scorned by Microsoft. They should be paying for Game Pass PC, they should be fixing Windows Store with a major revamp or perhaps do their built from the ground up launcher, they should kill off Bethesda's Store too cause PC players hate it, this is the general sentiment I get from PC folk whenever Microsoft comes up.

I think it's pretty telling that titles from Microsoft consistently sell amazing on Steam, not just for a few days but for months upon months, when it's cheap as hell on the Windows Store, folk in general just don't seem to want to use the store because it is bad. So they should be investing more into it or figure out a way to get Game Pass on Steam and 'abandon' the Windows Store.

So yeah I think Microsoft deserves some of the blame here.

Microsoft only attempt to unify PC/Xbox SDKs was through UWP. Wasn't met too well with PC crowd, so it was abandoned for gaming, even though from technical perspective it was really a solution ahead of it's time in terms of how apps are scaled for different devices. Now, they are preparing a new attempt with that GameCore SDK which is not ready yet and which should be a new SDK for Series X/PC only. The thing is, given past history, I wouldn't bet on Microsoft finding success here as well. Sure, it will be used for Series X development, but I really doubt PC developers would even touch that. And that's the main issue - in order to make this unification work PC developers should adopt it as default, not Xbox developers.

On second point, not really and Microsoft doesn't even care. For the simple reason - the Cloud Streaming. That's what Microsoft hopes the majority of people will use and once xCloud hits Windows 10, Outriders will sort of appear on GamePass for PC as well for those who really need it.

On third point, it will never work. Just talk to almost any random person in PC gaming community. Steam has built some sort of cult around it. There is no way to convince PC gamer to leave Steam or just at least even try something else. If the game is not on Steam, they just wouldn't touch it. So yeah, as I've said, given some specifics of PC community, the potential GamePass PC user base is very limited, unfortunately, no matter what Microsoft will do. But hey, at least fixing Windows Store and opening game folders for modding wouldn't hurt.

Microsoft should just buy Steam.

Lmao. That would fix the majority of their issues overnight, I feel for them slightly cause Windows Store (10 version anyway) was created under Terry, when Xbox was under Windows division and Terry's thumb, and there are rumours that he was pretty crappy towards them so I imagine a lot of their suggestions may have fell on deaf ears, Windows Store was not made with gaming in mind and it will require a huge undertaking to overhaul that.

Game Pass on Steam would be amazing, probably give it a huge boost.

Don't think Gabe is going to sell until he retires though and he doesn't really seem close to retirement to me, in fact wasn't he recently talking about moving to New Zealand but he also wants to move Valve's HQ to New Zealand or something?

I thought I heard that he wanted to stay in New Zealand and retire. He got trapped there during the covid lockdown last year and ended up loving it so much that he wants to live there permanently.

He picked the best country to be stuck in for the pandemic lol.

I think 1:45 is a solid amount of time for a combined show. 1:10 for the Xbox show and the remaining 35 minutes for Bethesda stuff.

Interesting, surprising, I wonder if they dropped the stupid fee, although of those I only expect actual full conferences from Xbox and Ubisoft.

One of the leakers said that that these publishers are doing short shows on E3 only to give E3 a boost so that it can survive the pandemic, and plan to do longer summer shows of their own after E3. If he is right, maybe like a 30 minute show at E3 for Xbox, followed by an hour show in July or something, plus a separate Bethesda show timed near the larger Xbox show. For Ubisoft it will probably be like last summer where they split their content into 2 of their own shows, except this time the first summer show for them will be on E3 and the 2nd one their own show.

Personally I hope that leaker was wrong and the publishers are going all in on E3.

I also hope this isn't true and for MS this does not make sense. If you look at their show last year versus their E3 shows the E3 ones get way more views.

Good to see that E3 isn’t dying, at least now we have a definitive date on the Xbox Showcase. Weird to see that only Koch Media/Deep Silver are having a show but not THQ Nordic.

Nice to see E3 back again so hopefully we will see a more condensed news cycle around the few weeks as we usually get instead of the mess of 6 months with everyone and their Dad making their own games showcase.
