It does suck that Nintendo games don’t drop in price but on the flip side that means they hold value. If you’re someone who doesn’t mind selling or trading games in, that makes the initial $60 investment a lot easier to swallow. And many places are so desperate for used Nintendo titles that they always have promotions, too. For example I bought Zelda like three years ago with the Switch. It still has $30 trade in credit at GameStop. Meanwhile LoU2 came out in 2020 and is $16 in credit.

You could replace Ubisoft with "any" and it remains accurate.

Technically not any publisher. Nintendo basically never price drops their 1st/2nd party games. A few will get temporary sales from $60 down to $40-50, but I've yet to see any 1st/2nd party Switch exclusive selling for less than $40, even the ones that released in 2017. Nintendo used to price drop older games permanently on what they called the Nintendo Selects program, but Nintendo has yet to revive Nintendo Selects this generation. It sucks, there are several Switch exclusives I would like to buy, such as Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 and Fire Emblem Three Houses, but there is just no way that I'm buying them at their current prices.

I don't really mind Nintendo keeping their games at full price it means that I can buy knowing they retain that value with the initial investment been higher but good return on reselling them. I just recently sold 23 Switch games and they averaged out to £30.80 per game and I only paid between £30-40 for each of them which isn't bad to say they have been sat gathering dust for years on my shelf and when compared to every other console library I own I'd be lucky to average £5 per game after that amount of time.

There is definitely good arguments for both the always full price and and fast dropping price methods publishers use but for me whilst physical is still a thing I'm generally more inclined to purchase a Nintendo game day one than others because I know I can spend £40 and sell it for £30-35 3-4 weeks later and buy another game with the money where as other publishers I usually wait for a sale 1-2 years down the line and grab it from the £10 bargain bin although Gamepass has made that pretty irrelevant now by offering new games day one as an affordable subscription.

I never even knew Party chat was a Gold thing, Probably because If i'm chatting on Xbox it's whilst playing a online game but still :D Where does PS4 stand on this was that locked to PS plus also?

Damn I had no clue they were dropping Party chat from gold. Nice we’re getting closer to PC lol. I remember using the private chat channels on 360 when I would run out of gold lol

Got a very positive impression from Octopath Traveler by playing exactly 1 hour.
I chose the huntress and I'm now on my way to recruit my first party member.
It's a beautiful game and I really enjoy the combat. Voice acting is good too.

Only minor issue thus far is the pause between a random encounter and the moment you can actually fight. The dialogue is a bit too long there and you can't select an attack until that opening dialogue is over. It's not dramatically long but might be annoying when you just want to grind a little.

Goodbye Lost Odyssey forever.

Their last project will be a mobile game. Cursed timeline.

We did get an Ys game. It's just that after Origin, no one else has attempted to.

Watch Dogs Legion already managed to piss me off.

Was playing the introduction mission and then had a short internet outage. Game throws me back to the main menu with a message saying that I lost contact to the Ubisoft servers.
I could continue the game but it would start me at the opening cutscene again.

There is some more good JP Xbox news today as well, in addition to the 6+ game Square Gamepass deal story that IGN broke. A new Melty Blood game was announced, developed by Type-Moon and French Bread and published by Arc System Works, and according to the magazine scan it is coming to Xbox One:

Considering that Arc support for Xbox this gen has been spotty at best, while French Bread hasn't released a single game in either their Melty Blood or Under Night In-Birth fighting series on Xbox up until this point, it's good news for sure. Slowly but surely Xbox has been winning more and more JP support in recent years. Rumor is that Type-Moon is also considering Xbox for their next Fate/ RPG.

I never thought we'll see Melty Blood again. The original is one of the best anime fighters along Blazblue and Guilty Gear.

So IGN Korea is reporting that MS and Square already signed a deal for more than 6 Square games on Gamepass, and they seem to be unannounced games, so not FF 13, 13-2, 13-3, and 10/10-2 which were already announced for Gamepass and haven't released yet. Calls the Square Gamepass deal an "open secret" within the industry.

Since they say more than 6, that means at least 7. My guesses for the 7:

  • World of Final Fantasy
  • Kingdom Hearts Melody of Memory
  • Trials of Mana Remake
  • Nier Replicant Remake
  • Balan Wonderworld
  • Romancing Saga 3
  • FF7 Remake (day one gamepass once the sony timed exclusivity ends)

I would love to see Kingdom Hearts MoM

Let's not forget Ed did hint at more DQ coming, so maybe DQ builders? Also I wouldn't be surprised if some old ports are part of it like Dissidia, I wouldn't be mad at that.
