Even if it's not GaaS, still has some issues in my eyes. The writing didn't seem great, story was pretty nonsensical. Graphics were pretty dated, and though the art style on the prologue looked good, the game got pretty ugly after the time skip, turning into a muddy brown warzone. I wasn't a big fan of the combat, maybe it was just the class I picked but it seemed way too cover heavy, and I didn't like the fact that there is no time delay based health regen mechanic, with each class instead having a different mechanic for health regen that each requires doing damage to enemies, making it extremely difficult to get back in the fight if you take too much damage. |
Its really hard to go off of story from a Demo so I am usually more open to see how things flesh out. I found the graphics find for a game that was made before the new consoles. I am not sure if the war torn part of the place you are at will be the only thing we see so I am still open as far as that is concerned.
As for the Class, actually playing the game as a cover shooter doesn't really work well with how the game characters are structured. Since you gain health by going pure offensive and using your abilities. Staying in cover only gets you killed while the game pretty much promotes you to rush into battle and use your abilities as much as possible to keep your health high. I believe only the Fire dude is a pain since you have to mark enemies to get the health benefits unlike the others. The game really opens up when you start to unlock our characters abilities and use them in combination with each other and other players. Playing solo was ok for me but when I played with my Son and we started to combo our abilities, the game really shined.
