I'd say Xbox's 2021 lineup might actually need them more than 2022 does. Sony is aiming to get 3-4 big 1st party games out in 2021; Horizon 2, God of War 5 Ratchet & Clank, and possibly GT7, plus their 2 timed hat games from Zenimax, plus some smaller games like Returnal and Kena. If Hellblade 2 or Everwild can be ready in 2021, I'd go ahead and release them if I was MS. Hellblade seems to me like it could be ready by the end of 2021, 1st one was made in 3 years by a team of 20 devs, sequel would have 3 years of development with a team of 40+ devs with a 2021 release. Not sure if Everwild can be ready in 2021 though, they won't even reveal what the gameplay is like, they just keep showing us the graphics only. 2022 line-up doesn't need Hellblade 2 or Everwild as much as 2021 does. 2022 should have Fable, Avowed, Forza Motorsport reboot, something from Arkane Austin, something from MachineGames, possibly The Initiative's AAA game, possibly State of Decay 3, possibly Halo Infinite's 1st singleplayer expansion, plus some 2nd and 3rd party exclusives, and of course the late ports of Deathloop and Tokyo Ghostwire since they're 1 year Sony timed and releasing on PS5 in 2021. |
I still seriously doubt God of War is coming next year. If it is, I'm thinking it is cross platform. I don't see why they would need to release two of their biggest IPs in one year. All we've seen is the logo, I think they have been working on it for a good amount of time, but I honestly do not see Ragnarok coming next year. Having Everwild, or Hellblade in 2021 would be nice. Hoping we get a Hellblade trailer soon. Low key hope they change the game play for that as well.
