Microsoft having strong competition on cloud gaming makes me even more certain Bethesda games will be console exclusive for maximum hardware push. They'd be batshit crazy to release them on Playstation imo.

Eh, seems only slightly more competitive than Stadia imo. Price for Luna Plus is a bit less than Stadia+, $6 a month instead of $10 a month.

I tried the Stadia Pro trial just a couple of months ago, for that price you get access to a handful of games we're talking 15-20. Stadia isn't primarily a subscription service, it's a service to pay $60 for games.

$6/month for 100 games at launch is WAY more competitive than Stadia.

Far better offering than Stadia but not on par with xCloud. PC and iOS is an advantage though.
Would've been insane if the Ubisoft channel was included in the $6. UPlay+ is $15 which lets you play new releases on launch. Doubt it will be much cheaper than that.

First time in over a decade that Football Manager is back on Xbox consoles:

Hope that wasn't the SEGA announcement though...

I hope it was!! Literally the only game I wanted from them.

Wouldn't be shocked if Amazon acquires Ubisoft. Hopefully MS has more in store from their war chest.

I highly doubt so, why would they create specific Ubisoft channel if they intended to buy them?.

In terms of library it would seem, though xCloud streams the Xbox One S version of games if I'm not mistaken. Meaning that this could be a big advantage for Luna depending on the hardware they are using. The same game streamed on xcloud vs luna could be far superior on luna.

Will be interesting to see how long it takes before we get Xbox Series X equivalent versions of games on XCloud.

MS will upgrade the servers soon. How would they be able to stream next gen games otherwise? Wouldn't be surprised if they upgraded them before launching xCloud on PC.

Besides, Luna will be up to 1080p. 4k streaming is a "coming soon" feature.

"What is Luna+?

Luna+ game channel offers a growing library of new and favorite titles. Set up Luna profiles to play on two devices at the same time at up to 1080p/60fps. 4K coming soon for select titles."

"What resolution can I play at?

Games are streamed at up to 1080p with select titles streamed at up to 4K resolution (coming soon)."

Did a comparison of the 3:

Stadia Luna xCloud
Pricing

$10 per month for Stadia Pro (Stadia Pro works by giving you free games each month which are yours for as long as you have a subscription, so your library increases in size the longer you are subbed, they are currently giving away 14 free games this month)

Ubisoft's Uplay+ will be available for an additional monthly fee

Full Price for non Pro games

$6 per month (introductory, will likely go up to $10 after the early access period) for Luna Plus, 100+ free games.

Publisher specific channels will also be release for an additional monthly fee, starting with an Ubisoft channel for an unknown fee

$15 per month for 150+ games, with plans to increase to over 200 games by the end of the year when EA Play games are added to xCloud
Platforms PC, Android, Chromecast PC, Mac, FireTV, iOS (Eventual plans for Android) Android (eventual plans for PC and Xbox)
Availability 14 countries 1 country only in beta (US) 22 countries (Japan is being added in Q1 2021 which will bring the count up to 23)
Game Library 126 games 100+ games 150+ games
Server Specs 10.7 tflop servers Unknown 1.4 tflop XB1 S servers currently, will be replaced with 12 tflop Xbox Series X servers in 2021
Required Internet Speeds

720p- 10 Mbit/s

1080p- 20 Mbit/s

4K- 35 Mbit/s

Unknown 720p- 10 Mbit/s
First Party studios 3 3 23

My thoughts on what MS needs to do to improve xCloud:

  • Open up xCloud to base Gamepass for $10 per month instead of requiring Gamepass Ultimate for $15 a month
  • Get xCloud on PC and Xbox asap, work out some kind of deal to get it on iOS as well
  • Allow stream quality loss when internet speeds temporarily slow (currently games are paused completely when internet speeds slow)
  • Continue to roll it out in more countries, eventually to the full Azure network
  • Make sure that servers are upgraded to Xbox Series X based units in early 2021

What internet speed do I need for Luna?

The minimum recommended internet connection speed for streaming games is 10 Mbps (35 Mbps required to play in 4K). Better internet connections will result in improved streaming quality and resolution.

Good to know that MS is definitely going to be taking this seriously (obviously with that 7.5 billion). MS vs. Amazon going to fun to watch.
