Wait, does CoD Black Ops Cold War seriously not have a free next-gen upgrade? Even CoD Ghosts at the beginning of this gen got one, and now that almost every other publisher is doing free upgrades on PS5 and Series X, Activision decides to go back on pioneering free next-gen upgrades and switch to paid next-gen upgrades again?

The next gen versions are $70. The standard version cant be bought on the Serie X or PS5 apparently.

Xbox store says Black Ops Cold War is 100GBs from the start. Wonder what sizes were going to be seeing by the end of the generation.

Ghosts had the option to upgrade for 10$ if I'm not mistaken and only for digital version most likely. So, the same situation exactly.

So, this shows that Activision is on board with raising next gen game prices to 70$. Was kinda expected because this will still sell a ton, despite the price increase.

Methinks Activision needs to learn how to compress files. CoD games have grown to ridiculous sizes. It's a big problem when CoD's file size is as big as a massive open world game like RDR2, despite having a linear campaign and mostly small MP maps (with the one exception being the larger battle royale map, which is still way smaller than RDR2's open world).

They just need to separate campaign from multiplayer. It doesn't make sense to install all this 100GB if you only need MP or if you only need campaign.

It's here the £65 standard for next gen games, Thanks.

So the next game will be about the Great War between Mayans and Skedar (same universe) Lol

Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

Honestly, I'm losing alot of hype for The Initiative's game now, which is a shame because at one point it was one of my top 3 most anticipated Xbox Series exclusives. First we had the leak several months back that it's a shared world Perfect Dark game where you play as a spy and compete against other players to finish spy missions first, instead of a proper singleplayer game. Now we're hearing that it's not even really Perfect Dark, just set in the same universe with a totally different name.

This is not what I wanted from The Initiative at all, all I wanted was for Perfect Dark to get the Tomb Raider reboot treatment from Darrel Gallagher. 3rd person action-adventure stealth (like Tomb Raider reboot) with semi-open world missions (like Tomb Raider, Dishonored, and the Deus Ex prequels), very story driven with playable Joanna Dark, who has been redesigned a bit to make her a tiny bit less sexualized just like Lara Croft was. The kind of game that could potentially be Xbox's Uncharted in tone, reviews, and sales, and make Joanna Dark one of Xbox's key mascots so that there would be better female representation among Xbox's mascots, to compete against Sony's Aloy, who has become a key female mascot for Sony.

I really don't see much point getting particularly worked up one way or another about what the Initiative are working on, until we've actually seen something concrete about it. Of course, I've also been trying to talk you guys off this Perfect Dark idea for like a year, but everybody pretty much had made their mind up that that was 100% happening. All because of some completely vague Phil Spencer tweet, that eventually turned into a bunch of wannabe insiders hedging their bets, only to later carefully distance themselves to various extents. At the end of the day, regardless of what exactly they're working on, what we know right now, is that they've hired a bunch of highly talented people, who I'm sure wouldn't be going there if they didn't get to work on a project which interests them, and that judging by the "AAAA" tagline MS put out there for them, they're getting all the resources one might want to make whatever said game is.

Whether that turns out to be something Perfect Dark related, a completely fresh new IP (heavens forbid that MS get one of those from their AAA studios, right?), single player, multiplayer, or some mix of the two, I'll judge it when I see it.

Where's the multiplayer coming from?

I mean, it very well could be all of that still, 3rd person story driven action-adventure with a female lead, it just isn't in Perfect Dark's universe.

Not sure either. Maybe both multiplayer and a single player component.

I dont mind a MP only game from the Initiative.
