I'd be fine if they ignore JRPGs. I've never been a fan, plus the genre isn't nearly as popular as it once was outside of a few IPs. |
Same here. Stay away from JRPGs and make a full-fledged Wasteland 3D RPG ala Fallout :)

Truer words have never been spoken.
Ryuu96 said: OK. I need to clarify this: I should’ve been more nuanced in chat. But the game isn’t Perfect Dark exactly. Based on my reporting, The Initiative is dabbling with that material, but no one should take that to mean that the game is set in that universe or starring the same characters. It’s my fault for not realizing that of course people are watching what I say. And I didn’t take the time to relay precisely what I knew. I’m sorry. https://old.reddit.com/r/Xboxnews/comments/igqy9d/jeff_grubb_confirms_thirdperson_perfect_dark/g2wynp4/ |
That’s concerning. Just make Perfect Dark. Playing in the universe is silly, just give us Joanna Dark. You’d think a strong capable female would be exactly what MS wants for their image.

If you appreciate a broken matchmaking, then sure :P

Let me break it down for you: 1st party- Studios owned by a platform/console maker, and the games developed by such studios (examples, Xbox Game Studios for Xbox, Sony Worldwide Studios for Playstation, Nintendo EPD) 2nd party- 1st party IP's or 3rd party IP's developed by 3rd party studios, but published by a console maker as an exclusive (examples, Tell Me Why and Battletoads on Xbox, Pokemon on Nintendo, Demon's Souls remake and Sackboy: A Big Adventure on PS5) 3rd party exclusives- These are games developed by a 3rd party developer, but are either self-published by that developer or published by a 3rd party publisher, with a platform/console maker signing a deal with the studio or publisher for the game to be exclusive to their platform/console, either permanently or for a limited time. These deals can either involve money exchanging hands directly, aka moneyhatting, or some other form of compensation, such as free marketing and promotion in exchange for the exclusivity (examples, The Medium and Scorn on Xbox, Bayonetta 3 on Switch, Ghostwire Tokyo and Deathloop on PS5) I also agree with you that The Initiative being an incubation studio is a great idea. |
I disagree on labeling Battletoads as 2nd party Ip, as it’s a Microsoft game. No matter who develops it, it won’t change its property status. Tell Me Why is a 1st party IP as well, next year The Coalition can make that game and it will still be 1st party. As for studios, they are either independent/owned by 3rd party publishers or 1st party of hardware manufacturers.
I understand that 2nd party is a label often mentioned in the forums but it makes things confusing for people not familiar with videogame industry.

Eh, Idk what is wrong with Gears 5 right now since I don't play the multiplayer but they've done an amazing job on MCC PC ports and fixing the steaming mess that it used to be. |
I don't think there's much wrong right now, but it was a complete mess for months after launch, at least in EU.
Gears 4 had some issues but nothing major, Gears UE was fine iirc. But multiplayer for Batman: Arkham Origins was literally broken for months, people weren't able to play. Not sure if they ever managed to fix it on PS3.
So my experience is they're a hit 'n miss, nyt most certainly wouldn't describe them as great.
It was almost one year ago that Gears 5 came out and to celebrate we were planning a surprise character drop.
And then Tuesday happened…
The good news is our mistake is your benefit. Head to the store tomorrow to pick up E-Day Minh, Armored Sam and Uzil Sraak for 250 Iron or 2,000 Coins each. And for those of you quick enough to purchase these characters yesterday, make sure to check your inventory.
We’re also rolling out our Gears 5 Anniversary (Bumble) Bundle – 1,800 Iron.
Happy early anniversary everyone!
