Should I give Star Wars Fallen Order a go at 35 bucks?

For sure. It's a great game, I really enjoyed it. Only game with a Souls-like combat system I actually enjoyed, because it has multiple difficulty levels xD

Have you tried The Surge or it's sequel? Lower budget, but it's another western souls-like with interesting themes. It's cheap right now, so I'm gonna pick it up soonish.

The second one is on GamePass, in case you didn't know.

FF16 will be a timed exclusive for the XSX before this happens

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Probably ranging around 200-300k concurrent with Windows store and Xbox. Definitely Xboxs most successful game this generation.

TT Games would be perfect to cover the family genre for Gamepass.
NetherRealm would be that fighting genre covered for Gamepass.
Batman and Harry Potter would be huge Gamepass releases.

I reckon IF Microsoft did acquire them, all the titles would remain multiplatform but day one Gamepass.

That all sounds reasonable. Though if Sony plans to play hardball with Street Fighter again, I wouldn't begrudge MS for countering with the next Mortal Kombat and Injustice.

The Game of Thrones licence should be included in any agreement right? What would you reckon about a Game of Thrones RPG developed by Obsidian? Might clash with what they're already working on, but still...

EA paid 500 million for Respawn alone (they overpaid initially imo but it payed off) and Sony paid a little over 200 million for Insomniac who only owned the Sunset IP.

NetherRealm with the MK Ip is probably worth close to that 500 million alone probably a little less. 2 billion doesn’t seem that unreasonable.

MS would be better off asking for Just NetherRealm, Monolith, Rocksteady, WB Montréal and Avalanche. TT is too big and the other WB studios are worthless to MS that would bring the price down and then just start negotiations for the licensing deals/terms.

If its only 2 Billion for everything though then some big publisher is going to get it all.

Publishers

  1. Portkey Games
  2. TT Games Publishing

Studios (Console)

  1. Avalanche Software
  2. Monolith Productions
  3. NetherRealm
  4. Rocksteady Studios
  5. TT Games
  6. WB Games Montreal

Studios (Mobile)

  1. Playdemic
  2. WB Games Boston
  3. WB Games San Diego
  4. WB Games San Francisco

So if Microsoft acquired them, I doubt they'd keep the Publishing & Mobile Studios, in that case I hope with the Publishing Studios they can merge the staff into XGP and with the Mobile Studios I hope they'd be able to sell them to someone like NetEase? I hope they at least try to smoothly move staff rather than just straight up shutting them down.

The 6 studios we're left with would cover Fighting and Family genre for Gamepass, I think they'd all remain multiplatform except if they do New IPs which Ed Boon did say he wanted to do or Lego IPs based on Xbox IPs. Also I really hope NetherRealm doesn't kill the chances of a Killer Instinct sequel, at least do KI VS MK.

MK is a NetherRealm IP so that'd be safe. They'd have to negotiate with AT&T for DC Licenses though for WB Games Montreal & Rocksteady. Harry Potter & Middle Earth licenses will be even trickier as not even AT&T own them, they'd likely have to negotiate with JK Rowling & Tolkien Estate - If that fails they have 2 studios with nothing (Avalanche & Monolith).

They'd also come with the FEAR IP though which might be cool to revive, and Xbox has plenty of IPs to cover a studio or two losing a license (If that happened). They'd probably have to renegotiate for Lego license too but honestly I doubt that would be a issue.

Of course all this is hypothetical, Microsoft might not even acquire them but at 21 studios Microsoft wouldn't have to acquire anymore studios at all. I'm still leaning towards Microsoft only looking into the acquisition though just in case Sony, Amazon or Google are, if those companies don't make an acquisition attempt then I doubt Microsoft will.

MS would for sure keep the mobile studio. They want to reach all 2 billion gamers.

I hope so. It’s facing some stiff competition. Guerilla’s Decima engine was looking pretty darn amazing in Horizon 2. Unreal 5 was also looking quite good in the tech demo. I’m sure that next gen Cry Engine and the next gen builds of Naughty Dog’s and Sony Santa Monica’s in-house engines will look very good as well.

I had to go back and watch the Horizon 2 video, because the stream started bugging out after the RE8 reveal and it wasn't so great by then, but yeah, the next Horizon looked pretty amazing. I'd still say Ratchet & Clank was the overall most killer game shown. I wonder if it'll be another shorter entry, or if it'll get a more beefy and full entry this time. Hopefully with an expansive multi-player like R&C3 on PS2. But I won't be expecting that kind of title for a while.

Short-term, I'm all-in on wanting to see what this new Halo can offer. I really want to see something special.

Ironically, this would have a far greater effect than buying WB. They could also just buy the DC IPs to counter Spiderman.

Started a new State of Decay 2 community yesterday. I played it on release, survived for 7 days and then everything went South pretty quickly..got my leader killed when trying to destroy a plague heart.

If anyone here has completed a legacy, I'd appreciate any tips. I'm still a bit clueless what to build and do. I'm on day 4 and learnt a lesson not to attack Juggernauts..nearly got two citizens killed, those are nasty fuckers.
