Anyone else feel like this runup to an Xbox event feels odd, I'm not sure where to place my hype, Lol. It has been one of the quietest leadups to an Xbox event ever and there's still thankfully zero leaks but it's so quiet from Xbox themselves too, still don't even know the runtime. I'm looking forward to it and I refuse to temper my expectations but I'm not really feeling "hyped" but that may just be cause of everything else happening in the world. But it's so quiet, it's weird to have an Xbox event which isn't being overhyped by 'insiders' or all of it leaking weeks before.

I think the Starfield delay took the wind out of the hype a bit. Also looks like MS is doing a better job at keeping things from leaking this time around.

It's in a weird spot. Everyone's kinda deflated by the Starfield delay, but at the same time, logically, we know that Xbox SHOULD be on the verge of entering a time period, starting next year, where we get a consistent stream of first party games.

So, with projects lined up around the block, and 2023 right around  the corner, it would be reasonable to assume there's lots for MS to potentially show us. Buuuut Xbox fans are also rather accustomed to being consistently overpromised, and underdelivered to, so...yea...weird spot. Let's see what happens.

I think you answered your own question. Less overhyping from trash insiders, which is good. And we already know most of Xbox's first party projects, so I doubt much will be new.

Yeah, they will recognize them right before they dissolve the business when they start making demands.

Does anyone have the numbers for OG Xbox, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Xbox Series in Japan?

These are just the estimates on VG Chartz.

edit: lifetime to date

I wouldn't know where to find a week by week breakdown of each console.

It will break a million even with the chip shortage issues. If that ever gets resolved it could do a bunch more. It is still going to come down to a must have game that will determine how close it gets to the 360. I'm not sure how well Starfield will do in Japan, but a Series version of Minecraft sure couldn't hurt. Avowed or Fable may even be the breakout hit to get the momentum flowing.

It is clear though that Xbox is rebuilding their Japanese team, a Producer specifically for Japan in Xbox Game Publishing for the 1st time in years, I read the 1st time since the X360 days, along with hiring others, they definitely aren't doing this only for Kojima, otherwise they'd have just used a Producer from XGP in America.

Hopefully this translates to more GP deals this June showcase. Last year was like two things, that 2D game and Yakuza. I'm not too hopeful though.

Xbox is sending out $5 digital to some people this weekend, just got it myself for the first time ever I think.

I'm getting $ in my Microsoft account very often (not really sure why to be honest); I believe it some kind of reward when you buy stuff digitally (I use Microsoft TV and Movies too to buy movies). But I usually get one of those every 2 or 3 months and sometime the amount is as high as 20$.

I never really questionned those and I'm just happy it happens :)

Does he even have a choice in the matter?

Still, good PR after the business insider expose.

They do; they can just close it. (This is what I would do be honest but let's not get into that).

But at the end; you are right, this is good PR :)
