Road to 3000 thought:

The Xbox community ought to be more vocal about MS's "quasi-DRM" policy for physical copies. You're SOL if you decide to try a new game while unplugging for a week, or any scenario where internet isn't an option. I'm not sure how universal that rule is (maybe it's not always the case for 3rd parties?), but it shouldn't be a thing in any title tbh.

The problem is, it's become common for discs to be a download check-in and not have the full game on them. It has part to do with how large games have become so they can't fit everything unless they ship 2 discs, and I imagine devs/publishers save money this way. I can't imagine this will change going forward, and will likely become more common. Is this the case for Sony and Nintendo as well?

As far as I know, PS5 uses 100GB Bluray discs. The vast majority of games are nowhere near that size and including more than one disc adds a negligible amount of cost to publishers I would imagine. Obviously, this is only taking into account PS5, I'm not sure how much of an issue storage capacity is for PS4 games, I would assume it's not a big issue as only a handful of my PS4 games use more than one disc. Does Series X|S use 100GB discs as well?

As far as I'm aware, PS games have all 1.0 info printed on the disc.  There could be exceptions for GaaS titles, but I think the standard is still everything on the disc.

Gotcha. It would be great if a disc contained all content at launch and there wouldn't be a need for online when downloading.

An Xbox can use the 100GB discs as well, but that doesn't mean MS uses this disc amount for their game. It's hard to find info on. Ultra HD Blu-ray - Wikipedia

I only play Halo 3 in the xbox 360 because i buy my console very late (2012)

Only when i got the xbox one i could play the complete series in order, thanks to the MCC.

Experimenting every single Halo game from 1 to 5 was a really important gaming experience to me.

Is nice to see you are having a great time too.
