Not really liking the changes in Far Cry 5 tbh. No minimap, no exp for kills (replaced by challenges and new perk system), and no towers. Idk, guess I'm alone on wanting this kind of formula to stay the same.

You're not alone, I didn't like it either. They made even more controversial changes in 6, the perk selection menu from 5 is completely removed in favor of perks being tied to the clothing system, but there are multiple huge problems with that:
- The gear perk system only allows you to make a highly specialized build, it's nowhere near as good at allowing you to make a jack of all trades build that is good at everything.
- They stupidly didn't design a clothing save system with multiple slots for different outfits, so if you need to change into a stealth build for a single mission, or a gas resistance build for a mission with lots of gas, or a fire resistance build for certain missions where you have to escape from a burning building, you have to go through the UI and change each piece of clothing manually, then change it all back manually afterwards, which is very annoying
- There is no cosmetic slot for the clothing system, so you can't pick one piece of clothing that you like the look of and another with the perk you need, you are forced to choose between aesthetics or perk
Additionally, Hurk, who had been in every Far Cry game since 3 except Blood Dragon (though technically it was Hurk's ancestor who was in Primal, not Hurk himself), and Willis, who had been in every Far Cry game except Blood Dragon and Primal, are both missing completely in 6, there are some letters that mention them but that is it.
Though on the plus side they did bring back the minimap for 6, and though you don't get XP for all kills, you do get a small amount of XP for destroying vehicles.
I really hope they combine the best elements of all previous Far Cry games on Far cry 7, bring back the skill tree, bring back XP for kills, make clothing cosmetic again (or make the perks that clothing grants something that works in addition to the skill tree), combine the 2 systems of map fog clearing from earlier games (you can either run around to clear the fog or unlock a radio tower to clear fog from a whole section of the map easily), bring back the animal companions and the human companions, bring back Hurk and Willis again.
They need to come up with a really good setting for 7, these seem likely to be the settings they are choosing between for Far Cry 7 as they appeared in the 2 most recent Far Cry setting survey:
- Northern Canadian Territories
- India
- Steppes of Alaska
- Siberia
- Vietnam
- Africa
- Saharan desert Africa
- Australia
- North Korea
- New Zealand
- Peru
The 2 most recent surveys also included some choices for the next Far Cry spinoff which means that Ubisoft was likely choosing between these:
- Sci-fi game on another planet
- Vampire game
- Old West game
- Zombie game
- Blood Dragon 2
- Jurassic Park style game
