Not comparable at all.
Psychonauts 2 was a crowdfunding project so cancelling the promised versions would've given them troble from the fans, maybe even legal trouble. Not worth it.

Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 obviously aren't, so a PS version could be cancelled at any time. MS owns nobody here so there's no point in honoring platform announcements. Thing is, the deal will close during FY2023 so by that time, Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 might've already released. Since Activision can't be sure that the deal will go through, it would be pretty stupid of them to cancel any non PC/Xbox versions.

The thing with Diablo 4 or Overwatch 2, is that it will depends of 3 things, annoucing it does not matter, and I think you nailed it:

- If the game comes out before or close after the deal is closed.

- The aquisition will take time, so if Activision-Blizzard actually make a deal before that close, they will have to fulfill it. And Microsoft cannot prevent that.

- If they ALREADY signed a deal with them but I doubt it, it is way too early for that.

So, Overwatch will be on Play Station 5 most likely. Diablo 4, could be another story tho. The game will come out later so who knows.

Here are some of my thoughts on the whole Activision acquisition.
1. I buy CoD every year so I'm relieved that starting 2023 it will be on gamepass.
2. Gamepass is probably gonna have a price increase when the acquisition is finalized.
3. I'm glad the Sony CoD exclusivity could come to an end soon. They've had map exclusivity for a week, and alpha/beta exclusivity for a week for the past few years now.
4. MS needs to allow the CoD support studios to make their own games now and these games need to be exclusives to the Xbox ecosystem.
5. Why would Microsoft want to bring Gamepass to Playstation? I get they want their service accessible everywhere but it's just going to hurt the Xbox console sales which they obviously still care about since their goal was to win this generation.

Yes, they were both announced for PC, PS4, and XB1, while Overwatch 2 was additionally announced for Switch, no Xbox Series or PS5 support was announced as of yet for either game though, so if Xbox really wanted they could make them both Xbox Series exclusive on next-gen, while allowing the PS4 version with lesser graphics to run on PS5 back compat.

To be fair, I wanted MS to buy a JP publisher like Sega to counter that, or literally buy Square Enix out from under Sony, I didn't want them to buy Activision-Blizzard for $69b, they could have bought every JP publisher except Namco Bandai for less than $69b combined xD

I wonder if MS is done with acquisitions... 

If not I'm assuming they will say, "always on the lookout.."

If they are willing to take Activision and their baggage, why not CDProject Red lol.

Yeah I don't see why so many people seem to think that CoD will have to stay multiplatform Warzone isn't going anywhere that will remain multiplat but CoD yearly campaign games won't when CoD is fully accessible on billions of devices via xCloud it not been on 100m PS5 consoles won't mean anything to regulators.

Also like Bethesda the rest of the Acti/Blizz catalog and primary reliant on PC with consoles been the secondary market meaning that massive losses wouldn't happen with Xbox been the exclusive console for them and the growth to Gamepass and increased revenue from pushing people into the Xbox ecosystem could make it back up that it's the better strategy.

True, but no dirtier than what Sony has done with Final Fantasy, Forspoken, Deathloop, Ghostwire Tokyo, KOTOR remake, and are additionally rumored to have done with Bioshock 4, making them timed exclusive, and in the case of FF according to recent rumors, fully exclusive.

Big facts! I saw someone on twitter talk about "how sony will respond?" And they said by making games... i guess that means buying fake exclusives. I'd rather them go all in and buy the studio instead of fake exclusives, but whatever.
