Reminder if you want Xbox to be better represented on VGChartz

The 12th Annual Greatest Games Event is here!

Nah. Scrappy underdog is the way to be.

Forza is Life!

After a quick stop in Iceland to buy the Premium Add-ons-Bundle for 28 €, I now arrived in sunny Mexico.

Finally found some of those Halo Infinite Rockstar Energy cans after a month of searching. Only had a half a can a few hours ago but I am crashing hard now, lol. How do people drink this stuff regularly?

Lol, I can drink monster and never really crash, though I don't get much of a high either. Coffee meanwhile which I rarely drink can easily give me the shakes.

@Spade

OOOOF

I found one at my local grocery store. Was a zero sugar grapefruit, actually very good.

Might need one for Forza Horizon 5. Started to play last night and damn... my game of the year so far. Incredible how they continue to make a better game with each iteration.

Skyrim Anniversary edition upgrade will cost $20. Still waiting on details for the next-gen upgrade beyond "better".

It's pretty bad from what I saw. I saw no graphical improvements at all in the trailer compared to the already existing Xbox Series patch for Skyrim. It seems like you're pretty much just paying $20 for a bundle of premium mods that Bethesda paid modders to create. Super lazy. The game deserved a proper graphical overhaul for it's anniversary.

Well the graphical "upgrade" is free at least, don't need to pay $20 for that, so yes the $20 is entirely for the creation club content.

With FPS boost the Series X is already running Skyrim at native 4k 60fps. So just a resolution/fps boost would be completely pointless. But yeah I saw nothing from the trailer they showed in terms of improvements. There's the slight hope that for whatever reason they showed PS4/XBO footage in that trailer but I doubt it.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

I guess the new box art format is official now, starting with Forza Horizon 5 and Halo Infinite. I hate it. Looked much sleeker with the thin black header from before (ignoring the big green sticker which was never actually used)--

Spoiler!

The big blocky white header stands out too much.

As I've previously said before when these new styled boxes first appeared on the internet, it's probably a measure to drive production costs down a bit for physical copies. Now Xbox copies are identical to PS and Switch ones in terms that they have nothing but paper inside.

That's basically Halo Infinite's system though, they never expire, works the same as MCC.

Yeah but the time issue is still there. It's very hard for those who arent full time gamers to catchup. By the time i unlock season 1s stuff season 3 will probably be starting. Halo Infinite system is better than others for sure but older ways of unlocking content were way better.

From my experience it's literally impossible unless you just give up on any other game except this one and even in this case you would still need to play a few hours a day every day to reach max level battle pass. It's obvious the intention here and the reason why this is the go-to business model for modern F2P games.

Based on what I was just reading about how the voting works on TGA's (ratio of 90% critic jury/10% fan vote for most awards, with 100% fan vote on players choice), I am modifying my predictions somewhat.

My early predictions for the 2021 TGA's:

GOTY Nominations (winner in Bold)

  • It Takes Two
  • Metroid Dread
  • Ratchet & Clank
  • Psychonauts 2
  • Monster Hunter Rise
  • Deathloop

Player's Choice

  • Monster Hunter Rise (by far the most played game out of all the above GOTY nominations)

Best Game Direction

  • Monster Hunter Rise (Capcom)

Best Narrative

  • It Takes Two

Best Sports/Racing

  • Forza Horizon 5

Best RPG

  • Tales of Arise

Best Action Game

  • Deathloop

Best Action Adventure

  • Monster Hunter Rise

Best Simulation/Strategy game

  • Age of Empires 4

Best Family Game

  • Mario Party Superstars if it qualifies since it's a remake of older Mario Party games, if it doesn't qualify, I have no idea what will win this

Best Art Direction

  • Tossup between It Takes Two, Psychonauts, and Tales of Arise

Best Indie Game

  • Death's Door

Best Multiplayer

  • CoD Vanguard

Best Performance

  • No idea on this one, on some years it is obvious who will win, because there will be some big actor who does voice and mo-cap for a narrative heavy game, but this year is unique in that there aren't any big narrative heavy games with big actors voicing and mo-capping a character. Going to make a random guess and say that it will be Jason E Kelley who voices the main character in Deathloop.

Best Score/Music

  • No idea, I haven't heard any of the music from the likely GOTY nominated games this year. If Halo had made the cutoff this would be an easy prediction.

Best Audio Design

  • No idea, maybe Deathloop?

Best Ongoing Game

  • Sea of Thieves deserves it for the Pirates of the Caribbean DLC, but will probably go to Fortnite or some other shitty battle royale

Most Anticipated

  • Tossup between Elden Ring taking it a 2nd year in a row, or Horizon Forbidden West. Both games have the virtue of releasing early 2022, in February, giving them an advantage over later 2022 releases like God of War Ragnarok, Starfield, BOTW 2, and Bayonetta 3.

As much as I would like it to be true (Metroid taking GOTY, which it absolutely deserves), I fear the game doesn't have that mainstream appeal to get TGA GOTY award. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Just to put Sega's support of Xbox into perspective.

  • Let Xbox use Creative Assembly for Halo Wars 2.
  • Let Xbox use Relic Entertainment for Age of Empires IV.
  • Phantasy Star Online 2 is only on Xbox in the West and using Azure.
  • Streets of Rage IV in Game Pass (and xCloud)
  • Pretty much the entire Yakuza series is on Game Pass (and xCloud)
  • Two Point Hospital on Game Pass.
  • Football Manager 2021 on Game Pass.
  • Football Manager 2022 is launching day one into Game Pass.
  • Humankind is launching day one into Game Pass.
  • Sega is using Azure for its next online focused titles.
  • Total War: Warhammer III is launching day one into Game Pass.

I think they may be the best Japanese publisher in terms of supporting Xbox, it's hard to tell whether this Azure deal will result in anything further or if what happens next is just a continued commitment of Sega's support, or the Azure deal is another example, Sega and Xbox have been close for a few years now.

At this point, I would honestly almost assume that anything from Sega Europe will be launching into Game Pass, Lol, from their Western studios at least; Amplitude, Creative Assembly, Sports Interactive all have day one launches confirmed, Relic has just finished Age of Empires IV, Hardlight doesn't have anything announced and Two Point Studios has Two Point Campus which I'm expecting to be confirmed for Game Pass eventually.

Seems the only real holdout is Atlus but I've heard that Atlus has a lot of independence, sounds almost like Mojang, Lol, so they'll have to be convinced separately from Sega.

SEGA is indeed one of the best Japanese publishers in terms of Xbox support at this point, but I would still say Bamco is ahead of them here. I don't even remember any Bamco game skipping Xbox in the last few years, they put everything.

Lol, I can drink monster and never really crash, though I don't get much of a high either. Coffee meanwhile which I rarely drink can easily give me the shakes.

For me it's the other way around, I drink coffee everyday and not feeling any effects of it, but energy drinks - I rarely drink more than 1 small Red Bull can as I don't really like how I feel after that.
