Microsoft intentionally held back Halo til December so they could win GOTY 2 years in a row.

.......but I would of thought it would need it's official release and the early access will be 4 days most likely as they have done with other games the past few years.

Eh, I don't see how Halo Infinite helps them win GOTY in 2022, unless it absolutely blows away the last two 343 Halo games in reviews and returns Halo to 95+ meta territory by some miracle. I'd say that Starfield from Xbox/Bethesda has a better chance of taking down games like BOTW 2, Bayonetta 3, and God of War Ragnarok for GOTY 2022 than Halo Infinite does. While Fallout 4 only got an 89 meta, the 3 previous Bethesda games got 90+ meta and 2 of the 3 won GOTY on their respective release years. Bethesda has really taken their time with Starfield, giving it 7 years of full development with their largest dev team ever by far, as well as almost completely rebuilding their Creation Engine from the ground up.

It was a joke / sarcasm but I agree that Starfield seems more like a game that could be challenging for GOTY.

I need to know the age of the person playing because that was just awful gameplay lol

It's looking like Sony paid to extend FF7R exclusivity by a full year, rather than the previously reported 6 month extension. Coming to PC June 2022, presumably Xbox Series at the same time.

https://www.resetera.com/threads/list-of-geforce-games-which-have-a-future-release-dates-has-been-reportedly-leaked.509517/

Edit: The leak might be fake. They have Kingdom Hearts 4 on the list for 2023 release. We already know there is another KH spinoff set between KH3 and KH4 coming before KH4, supposedly a larger one than the rhythm one we already got (think like 358/2, BBS. DDD tier KH spinoff). I highly doubt Square releases a big KH spinoff in 2022 followed by KH4 in 2023.

I'm more inclined to believe the FF7R exclusivity at the very least. Because the extension is either going to be 6 months or a year. Unless Sony continues paying up for further exclusivity after that lol

Battlepasses suck. So many games have them and it feels like for each battlepass you have to put in streamer levels of hours to unlock all 100 levels. I get that they're the new way to monetize multiplayer games but I miss the older unlock systems that were a lot more reasonable to unlock everything time wise.

That's basically Halo Infinite's system though, they never expire, works the same as MCC.

Yeah but the time issue is still there. It's very hard for those who arent full time gamers to catchup. By the time i unlock season 1s stuff season 3 will probably be starting. Halo Infinite system is better than others for sure but older ways of unlocking content were way better.

It's a huge upgrade over Halo 5 lootboxes/REQ packs imo. You could never open enough REQ Packs to unlock everything unless you played like 1000+ hours, as I recall it took something like 3.2m REQ points to unlock everything, and that is only if you took the most optimal path to unlock everything, only buying bronze packs until all bronze items unlocked, then silver, then Gold, it took even more points if you bought higher end packs early hoping to get lucky and get somethinjg high tier that you wanted to own. It would have taken $800 some odd dollars to unlock everything buying the REQ packs with real money in Halo 5, somebody did the math on it once. I bet it won't take $800 dollars to buy every single battlepass paid track over the planned 10 year life cycle of Halo Infinite, especially if they do discounts on older battlepass paid tracks once a new season starts, which I really hope they do.

Arguably the best method for Halo Infinite imo would have been the old Halo 2 approach, where DLC maps were paid at first but made free for all players a few months later, that way there wouldn't be the usual playerbase split you get from paid DLC maps. Then for supplemental income a customization shop where you could either buy cosmetics with in-game currency, or spend real money on them, with a decent in-game money earning speed, but not so fast that it discourages buying with real money. No randomization like Halo 5, if you see a cosmetic you want you buy it.

But in the end, I feel like Halo Infinite's improved Battlepass system won't be too bad, it's not like every battlepass will have something near the end of the progression that you feel you absolutely must own, you can just unlock the earlier stuff you want in a pass and then move on to the next one if there is no late pass progression stuff that you want to own. This first pass has the flaming helmet effect as the capstone according to the leaks, the flaming helmet that was once Bungie developer exclusive in Halo 3, but was later made available to players in Halo Reach. It's nice, but I don't know if I'd call it must own personally. Also worth noting that we don't know how hard it will be to move through the battlepasses with XP boosts and such, I know I got through the entire Alpha flight battlepass between first 2 out of 3 weekends, and it was 30 tiers, most battlepasses are 90 or 100. If you can get through 30 out of 90 or 100 in just 2 weekends in the final game, it won't be hard at all to do the whole battlepass in a 3 month season.

Yeah this system is definitely better than Halo 5 but with Halo 5 the way the req system was implemented into Warzone made up for the bad progression system.

The first 30 tiers are always the fastest, it starts to drag after that. But if there’s no just owns in the later half you can always just move on like you mentioned which is neat.

Na, I'm a fan of the new design. Much cleaner. No bulky ass optimised for series X sticker in the Centre of the box covering up the art.

As I already mentioned in the previous post, they never actually used that sticker.

The new design is now bulkier and more attention-grabbing while also looking somewhat cheap and tacky. An bad, unecessary change, unless they're intentionally pushing people away from physical copies (and we know they want to).

CELEBRATING 20 YEARS OF HALO IN THE MASTER CHIEF COLLECTION

Nearly 20 years ago, we met the Master Chief for the very first time in Halo: Combat Evolved. With Cortana at his back, the Master Chief stepped foot onto the mysterious Installation 04 and ignited a fandom that would span generations. Since then, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has become our living legacy; celebrating the original Halo titles that have led us to this moment as we prepare to welcome the next generation of the franchise with Halo Infinite.

As such, today we’re thrilled to announce some brand-new content coming to MCC to help celebrate 20 years of Halo! With today’s update there’s a fresh bevy of Halo-themed content for you to adorn your Spartans with, including:

  • The “Orion” Armor Set for Halo 2: Anniversary, first seen in the original 1999 Halo reveal
  • Weapon skins featuring an OG Xbox color scheme
  • Back Accessories suited for any Spartan’s loadout
  • A batch of brand-new Nameplates! Here's just a few examples:#

  • And more!

So, whether you want to duke it out with the Duke, or you want to bring your very own Grunt Plush into battle, there’s plenty waiting for you.

HALO 20TH ANNIVERSARY CONTENT IN MCC

With the release of the latest MCC Season, we took a chance to give you a rundown on how our content would be arriving from that point on – and, today is a first step in that very direction. Today, we’re excited to get content directly into your hands that would have usually had to be bundled up into a much bigger release.

Across MCC there will be a litany of new content to check out, including a brand-new armor set for Halo 2: Anniversary, another set along with some cool new pieces for Halo 3 featuring some of your favorite Xbox gear of yesteryear, a new Utility Item for Halo: Reach, along with nameplates and a few other pieces of flair that will help any Halo fan round out their kit. There will even be some nameplates you can earn by completing new weekly challenges.

Over the course of November, December, and into January we’ll be releasing Halo 20th Anniversary-themed content right in MCC’s Exchange for you to purchase with Season Points. Granted, we know the holiday season brings with it lots of travel, so we’re doing what we can to keep you covered:

  • First things first, please check out our full schedule below of exactly what’s releasing, and when.
  • And, if you miss any of these dates, we’ve got you covered. Everything below will return to the Exchange at a future date! You can rest easy knowing these aren’t one and done.

So, without further ado, here’s a rundown of what’s to come:

And, for those of you that would prefer to copy and paste, here’s a written rundown of what’ll be available in the Exchange (and when), just for you:

THANK YOU FOR 20 YEARS

It’s hard to believe that we’ve been together though this great journey together for 20 years now. Console generations, along with human generations have risen up right in front of us during that time. And whether you preferred to spend your time in BTB with friends, replaying campaigns to try your hand against legendary Jackal Snipers, or anything in between, it’s impossible to ignore just how much your feedback and friendship have meant to us.

Thank you, and we hope you enjoy! Putting together this content for MCC to celebrate 20 years of Halo has inspired us greatly, and we couldn’t be happier to get it into your hands. So whether you’re just diving into Halo for the very first time or you’re a veteran that’s been by Sierra-117’s side since the very beginning, we’re eternally thankful to have you here.

And, when you’re done exploring the new looks, be sure to let us know how your new Spartan looks! Send a Tweet our way when you get a chance.

They did. My last game that I bought, mass effect legendary has it on it.

Must be a regional or specific retailer issue, no game I've bought had it.

From my one of our local retailers--

Spoiler!

Also, stickers are at least removable.
