He confirmed that the studio making the AAA MMO cloud based game is Mainframe.

About 120 devs each for Avowed and TOW 2, he has already seen gameplay for both games as well so they are in a playable state.

These guys? Mainframe – Building the game of a lifetime (themainframe.com)

Mainframe was formed by veteran developers in Helsinki and Reykjavík. We’re creating a cloud-native MMO, a vibrant world with new ways to engage and connect with our friends.

The Finnish-Icelandic gaming studio founded by former CCP, Remedy Entertainment, and Next Games veterans is developing an unannounced cloud-native massively multiplayer online game that is designed and built at Mainframe’s Helsinki and Reykjavik studios.

Certainly lines up, Lol.

I honestly believe that Mainframe and Oxide could both be purchased if their games are deemed successful by MS, the fact that XGS is ramping up their projects so rapidly is music to my ears.

Shpeshal_Nick has just said on the XboxEra podcast that a new Killer Instinct game is in active development. He does not know which studio is developing it but he personally doesn’t believe that it’s Iron Galaxy.

So I think the timeline was: Nick said "something is not dead" on his podcast a year ago, he told Jeff Grubb in private that he was talking about Killer Instinct, Grubb confirmed he was told this in one of his podcasts this year, Jez said Microsoft is trying to find a developer for Killer Instinct a few months ago, Nick now says Killer Instinct is in active development.

Think that is right.

Imo it’s most likely nWay (Power Rangers: Battle for the Grid) or less likely Dimps (Street Fighter) or the most unlikely Arc System Works (DBZ Fighter, Guilty Gear).

Sikamikanico mentioned that Sony has a major shareholder ownership of Dimps, I don't know how much but they're listed as principle shareholders alongside Bandai Namco so it's likely a large stake which most likely rules them out.

Could be someone like nWay, I didn't have a clue who Double Helix or Iron Galaxy were before Killer Instinct, a random indie studio makes a good pitch then it could be anyone, Lol. Hopefully they aren't too small though, Sony is killing Microsoft's fighting market, they really need to go big with a Killer Instinct sequel.

They are only one of 3 major shareholders of Dinps and I doubt that they have more influence than Bandai Namco since they have worked with them the majority of the time and have also worked with Capcom who are not a major Shareholder.

Obsidian is the new Coalition in terms of consistency if they actually manage to drop a game for the next 7 years.

Jez said Undead Labs is putting a greater emphasis on narrative and characters for State of Decay 3, one of the goals of SoD3 is to make you actually care about your characters as people.

That would be amazing. I love the community management aspect of SoD but a much larger narrative emphasis is definitely needed in SoD3. When I lost a character in SoD 2 I wasn't really all that fazed by it; so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing how heavy they go on an actual narrative. Many people didn't seem to like Days Gone on PS4 but I actually quite enjoyed that game, it provided a good story that I found to be overall rather interesting. SoD also needs a rather sizeable graphical overhaul, SoD2 could pass for a 360 game.

I played it for the first time a couple of months ago and I thought it looked good. Not an impressive looking game but not a game that could pass as a 360 game either.

Did you try it lately after all the updates?

Days Gone is miles ahead of SoD. Would love if we got something like that instead tbh. Hopefully we see a graphical and narrative focus, but with the resource elements in SoD. But I have my reservations.

I'm all for adding more depth in characters of SoD, in terms of more narrative driven missions and personality traits. It would be cool if their personalies had more effect on gameplay in both good and bad.

But the focus of SoD shouldn't be narrative but survival and they should push it towards strategy and management kind a game. More different scenarios and stuff for replay value instead of scripted campaign.
