Hong Kong. Very nice.

Sony should invite Phil to their State of Play I mean, after all, he could talk about his first-party game exclusive for the Play Station Five
Won't happen but it would be hilarious.

Now I'm just waiting for some miracle about Metal Gear franchise being bought by either Microsoft or Sony and finally getting a new game in the series...

Ubisoft going in an interesting direction with AC... lol. I thought Valhalla was good? How would yall compare it to Origins and Odyssey? Just beat my hopefully last traditional AC game in Syndicate (was the best one I've played in that regard). Looking forward to the RPG lite games.

I'm in the school of the Origins and then the masterpiece Odyssey. I get that those 2 are really different from the old AC, but I did not like the old ones for this reason. I loved the open world, quests everywhere and esp. the loot system (and perks) of Odyssey. And they basically destroyed that in Valhalla... I was super hyped for the game but a bit disappointed by that. The loot/items have no real impact and are boring. And those "blue" mistery thing instead of giving me proper quests, oh god I hate this crap so much... One thing I give to the new one tho, is graphically (at least on the Series X, the game is such a beauty... UIbisoft engine is really getting good, and while I'm  still playing a bit of Odyssey here and there, I can clearly see how upgraded this is).

I just hope they will not have the same director on Infinite, I like the idea but I want me Odyssey loot/quest style back :)

So, it is now looking like AC Infinity is 2024. What a terrible lack of planning by Ubisoft, they clearly didn't start this project until recently. Because of their lack of foresight, we will now have to go half a generation without an AC game to play. What a downgrade from the yearly AC games we were getting. I had high hopes for a return to yearly when Origins and Odyssey released back to back, but then there was a 1 year break before Valhalla, and now we get a 4 year break.....

Why would that be a negative.  I actually consider that as a positive.  I believe the AC games need to look over what made the games really good and take their time with creating this service not feeling the need to rush another AC game to market.  I say give the teams a good amount of time to really flesh out a unique experience then this need to pump out a game every year or 2.

With Battlefield and Halo releases coming up, I guess I'm done waiting on Crossfire X. All the hype I once had for it is dead.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

I miss the old AC style I have no desire to play the new rpgish AC games at all

I actually liked yearly AC and was disappointed when we lost yearly AC after Syndicate. Was hopeful that yearly would be returning after Origins and Odyssey released back to back in 2017 and 2018, and then it didn't. Why I like yearly AC:

  1. It was nice to have a game every Holiday season that I knew I would like. AC has only ever let me down once, with Revelations, every other AC game I have played and enjoyed.
  2. Ubisoft still has at least a dozen good-great historical settings to get through, and yearly releases meant that they were getting through the list of settings that much faster. A slower release schedule means that they whittle down the list of settings that much slower, if they reach a point where we are only getting 1 AC game/AC campaign for Infinity every 3 or 4 years I might not even see every setting that I want to see in my lifetime, if the series even lasts that long.

The latter reason is one reason why I want MS to acquire Crytek and revive Ryse as an AC competitor, each game with a different historical setting.

Now hopefully after this 4 year gap Infinity live-service will mean that we will be seeing new full size AC campaigns added into Infinity pretty regularly, every 2 years at the most, with smaller campaign DLC's coming in between. If this Infinity live-service model is to work, they will need to keep it updated with new content pretty regularly to keep people from losing interest.

I was finding the formula was getting stale and finishing each game was becoming more and more of a chore instead of being fun.  The latest game is another example where I just got tired of the series and had no interest in playing it feeling like I can wait a few years for something different.
