Yeah okay so this Switch is unstoppable and Pokemon is a clear slam dunk.

"Slam Dunk" might be an exaggeration. It's sales are fine, just as the game is fine.

It could have and should have been better. That goes for both the game and the sales.

2 years ago people were saying sales would be through the roof for the first pokemon console game.

They are through the roof 1.3m for 3 days with out even knowing the digital distribution is very high.

Forget the pacman, this week's chart looks like a babybel. Glad Pokemon opened strongly, the game is great and I'm rooting for Ring fit to keep doing well.

Congrats to Minecraft for reaching 1mil on Switch. This game just keeps selling!

Pocky Lover Boy!

Switch outsold PS4 at a 22.5:1 ratio this week.  Pretty nuts.

Ring Fit Adventure actually had a significant drop this week.  Maybe the normal customers got their exercise by running away from the stampede of Pokemon fans at the game stores.

Speaking of, this apparently marks the first time a Microsoft game managed to sell 1 million in Japan.

The same downplay was also there for Pokemon Let's Go... until the 10 million number came out. So, we shall see.

Would 10 million be considered a success for a mainline Pokémon game?

Historically, crossing that in a month or so would be best described as "fine."  As a total lifetime that would be low.  However, it's hard to judge where the game is going in terms of its total until either Nintendo gives us a PR statement or we get to the next quarterly report.  The opening week is much, much larger than Let's Go from what we can see but we are still a week away from the big Holiday shopping period kickoff which will factor into the sales trajectory of Pokemon significantly.

So the Switch reach 10 million units sold in Japan then ? That new, isn't it ?

The milestone was announced by Nintendo on the 5th this month.

Famitsu's number just reach the 10m this week. Could be partially because it doesn't count the Nintendo store sales

I'm sticking to my prediction that the game will sell over 20 million lifetime. That post was just poking fun at a poor point.

The point was that that particular title's sales potential was also put in doubt cause of a number of reasons, yet it was another 10+ million seller. Couple with the "switch effect" and you might actually be right with your prediction, as I believe it will sell more than your average previous titles.

Seems like they are still not dead in Japan. Just needed to buddy up with a certain company.
