Forums - Gaming Discussion - Favourite system startup sequence

I choose...

Gamecube 30 38.46%

Original Xbox 3 3.85%

PS1 20 25.64%

PS2 9 11.54%

Sega Saturn 3 3.85%

Neo Geo 0 0%

Dreamcast 4 5.13%

Other 9 11.54%

Total:78

For a system that sold quite poorly, I am consistently surprised how much love the Gamecube gets, I had no idea it's startup sequence was so adored.

Bet with Liquidlaser: I say PS5 and Xbox Series will sell more than 56 million combined by the end of 2023.

Visually, the PS1 startup sequence is very simple, but that sound alone still gives me chills. It's just extremely eerie in that 90's sort of way.

Currently awaiting the arrivals of:
Kid Icarus Uprising
Resident Evil: Revelations
Tekken 3D: Prime Edition
Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D
Beyond the Labyrinth
Heroes of Ruin
Luigi's Mansion 2

Real shame that as they progressed I think they got less awesome, although the PS3 original startup sound was amazing imo but Jez the PSVITA and PS4 are just .... wow. lets not bother guys.

I haven't said anything cause I will obviously be the odd one out to say that I prefer the PS4 which basically as good as not having anything.

I'm not against you too much on a nice fast startup, the Switch comes to mind for me because I very very rarely see the systems start up, 95% of the time I'm putting the system into sleep or else waking it so the startup screen is me pressing A to get back into my game immediately, the vita and ps4 both have the simple design... but then also have the seizure warning before the home menu so it kinda has the EULA warning as a part of the systems startup which makes it less video games fun and more... HERE'S THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS IN YOUR FACE BEFORE YOU CAN PLAY.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

The PlayStation 1's start up still gives me chills.

Systems don't sell on startup sequences sadly.

I didn't mean just this, I mean just in general it seems to get such a huge amount of nostalgia for a system that sold badly.

Well that's what happens with most niche things, right? Disproportionate amount of love compared to it's market success. Gamecube is just even more disproportionate ...

1. Dreamcast just felt clean and modern--like the whole system.

2. PS1 gave the vibe of "Something awesome is about to happen".

Gamecube is simply great. Not just going around cube-wise but also connecting to the G logo and you can "roll" the cube to get to the menu etc.
Dreamcast is also amazing because of its simple design

Not the biggest fan on the GameCube intro but goddam, I loved the GameCube logo. I used to just look at it and feel good. I used to draw it when I was bored.

I mean it was a "G" but it was a cube! And it was in 3D. It's a work of art and underappreciated.
