I think Sony should announce $249 PS4 Slim and $349 PS4 Pro on Gamescom, it's about time... and they will have a chance to outsell the Switch weekly again.

It would outsell Switch for a few weeks until the Lite releases then get overtaken again. But at this point Sony is more concerned about profits rather than "winning" weekly sales against a device that is coexists very well with. Switch is not stealinf PS4 sales to any notable degree and vice versa.

I think Trump might be another reason as to why they are not cutting the price right now. I know I wouldn't when there's a possibility of 20% tariff being slapped on consoles sales, as that would make the console more expensive again for Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft.

The next round of tariffs has been delayed until after the holiday season to not hurt those sales, but then early next year they may very well come. And if it comes, it may also just as well increase the price of the next gen by 100$ in the US.

These tariffs are dumb, but if they go live I think Sony would split them with their userbase, aka PS5 being $50 more instead of $100 more for the consumer.

To have Playstation 4 neck and neck with switch is quiet impressive especially when considering there was no major releases on it compared to switch wich had Fire Emblem.

On the other hand, Xbox one is dying and at that stage neither Gears5 nor halo infinite can really help the machine sales.

The switch revisions are likely why sales are close at the moment. Things should stay close till September.

The improved sku is releasing between mid-August to early Sept and the Lite is releasing in late Sept, that's why Switch sales are down at the moment.

But PS4 sales are really good regardless.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

You think PS4 will finally have a price drop at Gamescon or Sony will keep the price the same because it is still selling good ?

Imagine if the price cut does come, but in the USA because of the tarriffs, prices more or less stays the same :p
Everywhere else in the world it drops.

I would like to see that. Europe and the rest of the world having better deals than in USA. ^_^

I doubt they would do that, at least not as long as they can avoid it.
