Forums - Nintendo - SuperMario64:what did you feel when you played it first?

was a strange feeling for me after being brought up on the nes, master system, megadrive and snes and wishing i could see so much more of the world that mario inhabited. i was both in raptures at the new experience i was living and wary at the same time but as soon as that porky fucker popped out the pipe i knew that the new generation had begun and there was a whole new world waiting for me. The analogue controls took a lot of getting used to but they clicked soon enough and that was it. God bless nintendo for bringing the videogame market forward through innovation instead of enhanced graphics.

nintendo and sega fan since i was old enough to hold a game controller.

note: my games collection on my profile is only 20ish% complete, i've got a boatload of 360,saturn and dreamcast games to add and a few ps3 games, thanks :)

I don't recall being too impressed by this game. Don't get me wrong, it was really good. I was really blown away by Zelda OoT and Goldeneye. I put in countless hours on both of those games.

Switch Code: SW-7377-9189-3397 -- Nintendo Network ID: theRepublic -- Steam ID: theRepublic

Now Playing
Switch - Super Mario Maker 2 (2019)
3DS - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (Trilogy) (2005/2014)
Mobile - Yugioh Duel Links (2017)
Mobile - Super Mario Run (2017)
PC - Borderlands 2 (2012)
PC - Deep Rock Galactic (2020)

Am I the only one who thought/thinks Mario 64 is better than Zelda: OoT?

Thanks to Blacksaber for the sig!

^^ I think M64 is better, it was certainly more innovative and influential than Zelda.

I remember when me and my brother saw it in action in a videoclub. We were amazed. we thought that Nintendo was going to reign over the other consoles with such realistic graphics and sounds! and that we would never ever seemed such lif elike environtments in our lives.

Now we look back and lol very hard XD but I still think it is a great game ^^

SuperMario64 is a 3-d platformer done right.

in fact,it might be a 3-d platformer done perfect.

the game that brought the "extremely athletic for the way he looks" plumber to the 3rd dimension, can also be called one of the best games ever.one small step for the plumber, one giant triple leap for the industry

what id like to know is how you felt when you first saw mario,in 3-d,ran around just for fun before realising the game had some objectives too,did the first cannon-shoot etc?

my first reaction was amazement at the fluidity of mario's movements. as sublime as ever, and with an added dimension.

over to you

Classic.

OT: I am a little embarrassed to admit the first day I played Mario64 I ran around outside of the castle jumping in the water and climbing trees, I felt like a virtual kid (I was like 8 so....) but it was great, one of those moments I play video games for.

Currently dreaming of: DKC4 or Sonic the Hedgehog 4 (classic 2D platformers) for WiiWare, Smash Bros. for DSi, New Super Mario World for DSi, a Wii remake or true sequel of Final Fantasy Tactics.

One down, hopefully more awesomeness to come.

Mario64 is the one of the few mario games i have never played. I never thought much of it. I'm not a big fan of 3D mario.

It was a long time ago and I don't really remember the moment precisely but I think my first impression was enthusiasm.

My brother and I played it pretty much all Christmas Day, right after ripping through our other presents and posing for photographs, and only reluctantly being pulled away for things like food and ultimately sleep.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I think Who is he? Is Mario?

Holy crap, this is unplayable.
