Forums - Website Topics - [Staff Announcement] Mod Team Update 2019 (2/2)

I'm sure I'm not the only one who's noticed that Miguel_Zorro hadn't been active for quite a long time. Was kinda wondering if any official change would be made. Happy trails to him. Hopefully he will return to the site in some capacity in the future.

Regarding the new mod recruitment method of "hand picking at the right moment": Are you simply going to ask a person if interest when a position becomes available? Or is there more to it than that?

^^ Oh, hello!

We'll reach out to users we feel could be a good fit for a mod and let them go through some form of recruiting procedure if they work out!

I think it's a solid idea. Streamline the process a bit. It may even encourage members with mod aspirations behave slightly better. Hope it goes smoothly. The only downside is the team may pick someone who isn't interested, or perhaps wouldn't be able to fulfill the duties of a mod for whatever reason(s).

Hey Coktoe :)

It's not really a change.  CGI is in charge and has been for a while.  I've been lurking.  Any time CGI or any of the other mods want to @Me in Slack I'll chat with them.

Roger roger. I had no idea what was happening. Whether you were on a full hiatus, or simply absent from the site, but still active on the mod discord. Log in once and a while. :)

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

I haven't gotten my message yet?

I think it was Plato who said something like "Those who seek power are the ones least suited to have it." The new method of hiring of moderators seems like a positive change to me. There might be all sorts of chosen ones just going about their days not knowing they have the potential to be the best moderator ever...and don't even bother applying, so bringing attention to the users in particular might get them to give the job another look.

Also best of wishes to Miguel! Hope you enjoy the civilian life, old boss

I think this is a good change. Keen to see how it plays out going forward

Good change. I've noticed Miguel hasn't been active in threads lately

Seems like a good change! Application process always seemed a bit off to me. Mods should have an idea of who would make a good mod, shouldn’t have to involve an application process

Agreed. I always favored Naz’s way of doing it, so when it was brought up again, it didn’t take much for me to move in that direction.

Do you intend to follow in naznatips' footsteps in other areas, such as recognizing arguing for the sake of arguing as trolling when stances repeatedly change throughout the same thread and selective quoting is used to drag out a discussion?

Don't be ridiculous Rol...if you can't argue for the sake of arguing, what's an internet forum even good for?

Poor darklor
