Forums - Gaming Discussion - Saints Row announcement teased by Deep Silver

Naturally they brought Saint Row 3 on Nintendo Switch but I bet don't bring the new game that they will announce soon. Obviously I hope that's not the case...

It wouldn't surprise me if it's a remake of one of the previous games.

That said, if it's a new game, I hope they put more effort in it and manage to beat Saints Row The Third (for me, the best one).

Honestly though, it was the best one. Saints Row IV got boring once you had all the powers and you were pretty much invincible. I never played the second SR so I can't criticise that, but the first one was alright. No Professor Genki's magically appearing in it ): I never finished Gat out of Hell because it was lame when I started playing it. It didn't appeal to me like SR3 did, never kept my interest. I also missed the creativity of making your own character.

If there is a new game, I want more challenges involving Professor Genki, hands down. But I don't think there will be a new game to be honest.

eeenteresting. I have the complete SR4 ( whatever it's called ) on PS4, but have yet to play it.Played the OG SR on the 360 and thought it was fun. Skipped SR2 for whatever reason. Bought and played 3 on PS3 for whatever reason. SR3 was...quite good IMO. I had a few very frustrating glitches occur, but it was quite memorable. Fun and fairly straightforward plat too, for the trophy/achievement hunters.

don't really see the mentions of a new game though, they seem to be hyping the switch release

right now is a bad time to be talking about their next project imo, they've just dropped a steaming log on the Switch that needs proper work before they move onto the next project, the port is worse than the x360 era version of it.

I agree the Switch version of Saint's Row 3 is technically disappointing, but that's not crucial for the series.

Their bread and butter is the Xbox, PlayStation and PC audience, the Switch version is just unfortunate. Either way its takes less people handle/fix a port versus the next game in the series.

Right now the Switch is selling around as much as the ps4 and X1 combined so realistically those audiences might be their "bread and butter" but there is the same amount of bread/butter right now looking at their dogshit port of SR3 and thinking, "fuck them".

Switch version in the current state isn't "unfortunate" btw, considering ports of things like HellBlade, Doom and MK11 from the current gen machines dropping a game from the PS360 era onto the Switch which functions worse than those 13 year old machines is pathetic, not unfortunate.

Strangely, you were more invincible in the 3rd game, as you could actually upgrade yourself to being immune to all damage, something you couldn't do in the 4th one. Again, strange since in the 4th you were basically in the Matrix, so should have been able to become invincible. But, yea, while I loved the 4th and GOOH, I want something closer to the 3rd, including being able to pay a shit ton of money to become invincible.

I found that I could still die in the 3rd game. You're not entirely immune to all damage, if you're stuck under a car, you can still get pretty injured. It would be nice to pay heaps of money to become invincible, having too much money sitting around is kind of boring.

Yeah, that's not how this works. Equal size audience doesn't mean the audience has the same interest. I think the Switch has more core gamers than Wii, but the general Nintendo audience and technical limitations don't make Switch a priority.

Unfortunate or pathetic, whatever. Saint's Row 3 should be better on Switch based on other 7th gen ports. Before we even consider if the next Saint's Row is feasible on Switch, I think we need to see what it is. I mean we don't want an open world game on Switch that looks like Ark.

Nope, an open world game like Zelda or Skyrim though, those two open world games which function perfectly on the switch, that's just fine.

But if you want to try and convince yourself that "switch sales numbers don't count because I'd like them not to" ignoring things like the m rated games from Japan being localized on it and not the ps4 then there's no point in discussing this really with you I think. Would just be a case of numbers and game releases showing one thing and your feelings showing another that I could not or would not bother showing you information to change.

You know what? Maybe they'll make a Xbox one X exclusive saints row in 4k because that would be the best audience who would love that game right?

Sigh... I really hope you didnt actually read what I said. Atleast I wouldnt question your reading comprehension.

Was this a debate on whether or not Switch could do open world games? No.

Nintendo platforms since Wii havent done a great job, or as good of job moving core 3rd party software as Xbox and Playstation. Not really a debate even if Nintendo consoles have had some success there.

The userbase certainly matters for Switch, this is why their 1st party games are doing extremely well. Its not reflected equally on 3rd party core games though.

Xbox One and PS4 hardware are very similar and thats why they share a lot of games. Supporting Switch is clearly more difficult and is often handled by a different studio. MK11 is a recent example.

If you were less passionate about Switch, simply looked at facts, you would make an occasional valid argument.
