Good. People can be really rude sometimes. I imagine there are other ways to enforce at least decent behaviour, but this is good too.

There have been a few times players have tried to troll me on the mic and I shut them down by just acting really gay. Like talking about what I want to do them in graphic detail, it really shuts them down.

A shitty move on Microsoft's part ...

I don't think the Gestapo would have prohibited you from saying the n-word, does that make MS worse than the Gestapo?

Soooo, as far as voice chat is concerned, how does Microsoft determine whether the player under accusation has done anything wrong? If three assholes, who happen to be friends, conspire to falsely accuse someone for kicks, how is said accusation verified?

Also, I love this quote from MS in the Gamespot article linked in the op: "This means more than just not harassing other players--it means embracing them.".....Awwwwww

Cheesier than a stuffed-crust pizza.

If they actually have methods in place where accurate determinations can be made as to the legitimacy of the "complainants" claims, it's a decent idea. If not, it's garbage.

To be honest... I don't come across gamers with voice chat anymore on console, used to be common during the Halo 3 era though.

Really? Interesting. I'm often getting hounded to join party chat in EDF games. By friends, and occasionally strangers. I even had to buy a new headset, because my PS4 wireless gold, while producing excellent sound, doesn't let my ears breath. I get uncomfortable, and eventually, dopey, as it slow cooks my brain inside my own skull. In general I try to avoid headsets, as I play better without them.

Even on PC it doesn't happen very often anymore. Might be my geographical location and who I get paired up with though.

These new rules are so dumb. If someone is joking around with their friends on Xbox an dgets banned for making joke thats just dumb.

I suppose there's a few factors at play. The EDF 4.1, and even more so, EDF 5 community seems quite eager to talk in my experience. My first encounter with at least 5 different people was accompanied by chat invite. I met one Aussie named Linux on there too. A nice guy, but very eccentric, and a rapid-fire chatter box, which when paired with his thick accent, made for some iffy speech recognition.
