Forums - Sports Discussion - 2019 NBA Postseason: The Toronto Raptors are NBA Champions!

Also, on the Logo thing, funny story is him being the logo was mostly chance. The designer was looking for reference photos. He wanted a form that captured the energy and motion of the sport. It just so happens he really like Jerry's form when driving

Having said that, he is one of the more overlooked all time greats. Third highest playoff ppg average (29.13), fourth highest ppg average (27.03, Lebron may push him to 5th when he retires), most consecutive 40pt games in the playoffs (6), highest playoff series average ppg (46.3). And also was flexible enough to shift from shooting guard to point guard late in his career and be good enough you'll see him sometimes pop up on top 10 all time point guard lists as well as shooting guard lists.

And then also there is this:

And he's a hell of a front office guy these days. Been instrumental in putting together some great teams, including these Warriors. Man knows his basketball

After a week in San Diego and offline, I am back!

And WOW.

Kawhi Leonard and the Raptors have proven to be the real deal. Their defensive intensity and physicality has rattled the Warriors and now they're on the verge of going up 3-1 going back to Toronto for Game 5.
Even if Kevin Durant were to come back in Game 5 and play the rest of the series, I think this could very well be the end for the Golden State Warriors,

Lebron said hes the greatest player ever just because he beat the warriors in 2016. If kawhi can also beat basically the same warriors team does that also make him the greatest ever with lebron?

With due respect, this isn't the same Warriors team.  They're older, don't have nearly as much depth, and are riddled with injuries.

The Warriors offense is depleted enough that the Raptors have used the box and 1 defense because Curry was the only guy on the floor they were worried about scoring.  A defense almost contemptuous of the other four guys that shouldn't work once you get to the high school level, nevermind in the NBA Finals.  And the nutty thing is it's working.  If the Raptors own shooting hadn't gone cold in the 4th Quarter of Game 2, this series could well have been a sweep.

Was there one single minute from the 2015-2018 Finals where the Cavs had the luxury of thinking the only thing they had to do to stop the Warrior offense was put a guy in Steph's face and dare anyone else on the court to shoot the ball?  Because the Raptors have had long stretches of exactly that the past three games.

What older? Steph and klay are in their 20s so still in tgeir prime. Klay only missed 1 game and he played well game 4. This warriors team starting 5 is the same 2016 starting 5 team that lebron, kyrie and love beat. And dont forget draymond missed a game through suspension and bogut was injured the last 2 games. Stop making excuse to make lebron the goat. Kawhi took a Toronto team without a superstar  to the finals in his first year in the east confirmed how weak the east is

Warriors miss Durant the big inside scorer. Demarcus Cousins has been a huge disappointment. The Warriors need big strong forwards to dominate inside and score points to assist the splash brothers. I am surprised that Lebron James did not join the Warriors. If being a champion was all he wants he would assist the team that beat him 3 of the last 4 seasons.

Jordan the G.O.A.T had to wait until 28 to win his first NBA championship because he played on losing teams and had to wait for his team to have decent players.
Jordan is the G.O.A.T and everyone else is trying to catch up to his 10 NBA scoring titles, 6 Finals MVPs and 5 MVPs and 6 NBA championships.
You must win more than 10 NBA scoring titles and win more than 6 NBA Finals MVPs and more than 5 MVPs to be G.O.A.T. Jordan played in a tough era and his scoring averages would be a lot more if he played in today's soft basketball era. He frequently got smashed and no foul calls. Get up and play on you idiot is what the other players, crowd and the referee. None of today's cheap foul calls for nothing way back in Jordan's days.
