Happy Birthday Switch and Breath of the Wild!

Then came 2018. Horrible, torturous 2018, where Wolfenstein II was the only title all year worth buying and my Switch spent 11.5 months of the year collecting dust. From such lofty heights, the fall was agonizing, and I felt like I was back in the Wii U days again. I started to wonder if I'd been fooled by a stacked first year into buying another disappointing console.

Strange, for me was 2018 better than 2017. But I am not restricted to big first party titles. Civilization VI, Okami, Katamari Damacy, Dragon Quest Builders, Octopath Traveler, Monster Hunter Generations, Armello and Ys VIII are among my most beloved games, so 2018 was actually excellent and better than 2017, which had with BOTW surely one of the best titles ever but not the big amount of good titles.

My experience was very much like yours.  I played Zelda and Puyo Puyo Tetris a lot early in 2017, but then I wasn't particualrly interested in much more until Mario + Rabbids, and that was it for 2017.  In 2018, I had plenty more to play including DQ Builders, Octopath Traveler and Valkyria Chronicles 4, all of which are long games with a ton of content.  It may also have been luck, but the smaller/indie game(s) I tried out in 2018 I liked better than the ones I tried in 2017.  And there are still big games from 2018 (like Civ 6) which I haven't even gotten around to trying yet.

So Zelda was a great way to start, but I feel like Switch is really going now.  All of the third party games mean I don't have to worry about gaps and waiting for a new release.

Xenoblade 2

Xenoblade 2 Torna

Fire Emblem Warriors

Octopath Traveller

Splatoon 2

Mario Plus Rabbids Kingdom Battle

Smash

Pokemon Lets Go

Mario Tennis Aces

Super Mario Party

And having every 3rd party multiplat that came to it playable on the go or at home.

It has offered more quality exclusive games in less than two years than the PS4 or X1 did in two whole years.  If you honestly feel that the WiiU is better, I question the motives behind your post because there is a ton to play outside of WiiU ports that many never did.  I would think you are just being picky, but since you can give praise to the WiiU, it does not add up.

OT, congrats Switch and happy birthday!  Been a great two years and I look forward to many more to come!

Unfortunately im not interested in any of those games you listed, hence why i didnt list Xenoblade or splat or smash or anything in my Wii u list. Im not being "picky" im like everybody else i have games i like and games i dont. OP asked how we have found the Swich, I answered "dissapointed" which is how i feel. Also "more quality exclusives then ps4/xbox" is subjective and personal to an individuals tastes. If i feel Bloodbourne is a better IP than ( which i dont by the way) Breath of the Wild, who are you to tell me otherwise?

I feel RDR2 is the most overrated game of 2018, but I can still acknowledge that it is a good game.  What if I told you it is possible to give credit based on quality rather than just your personal taste alone?

What made it questionable is the fact that you listed multiplat games in your WiiU list to flesh it out, but ignored the multiplat games on Switch.  Probably because despite your personal taste, you know that the Switch library in its first two years destroys what the WiiU had to offer (in both 1st and 3rd party support).  Really it was trying to compare the Switch to a failed console and putting a spin on it that brings the intent of your post in question.

Only two years old and already four Atelier games with a spinoff releasing later this month and a new main game coming up shorty as well. Fingers crossed for a port of the Iris trilogy by the end of the year.

One thing I don't like 2 years in is how overpriced some games are. Atelier being a prime example.

9 Games. Nintendo has more good exclusives in the works for Switch's 2019 than that!

Lol clam down! Someone just asked you to elaborate more on why you are dissapointed. Perhaps we can suggest some games that might suit you.

Pocky Lover Boy!

Ok ill try explain this in a better way, so people dont think im flaming for whatever reason. So on my Wii u i absolutely loved and have great memories playing through:

SM3dW
Windwaker
Twilight Princess
Rayman
Mario Kart 8
Zombiu
Donkey Kong TF
Black flag

These games i played for the 1st time on Wii u so i really enjoyed them, and many more games were decent like bayonetta, splattoon, lego city, trine etc

Switch games ive absolutely loved:

Breath of the Wild (GOTG, tied with GoW)

And some other games ive enjoyed that were decent like Super mario odyessy, LA noire( played before on ps3) Skyrim (played before), Mario kart 8 ( played before).

Now because most of these games ive played before it lessons the impact on me so i enjoy them but, not, like enough to put 100 hours in and really try and smash out.

So in essence, I really think that  the switch is really ahead of Wii u in terms of Hardware, a really impressive bit of kit, but in terms of actual use IE , playing games,  my Wii u is miles ahead. Of course in a year or two i may have played numerous other switch games ( links awakening, bayo 3 looking at you) and so switch will suprass Wii u. But at the moment, in light of all that, im dissapointed in Switch so far, but i am optimistic 2019 and 2020 will be better and the games that appeal to me will come. I hope this post doesnt upset anyone or anyone feels (heaven forbid) that its simply trolling to enjoy Wii u, more than Switch so far.

Oh and yes i know there is alot of quality games out there like Splat2 or doom or  Xenoblade 2 or whatever, but if i had any interest in them i would already have bought them.

Namaste

I have :

Super Mario Odyssey : Great game
Xenoblade 2 + Torna: Great game
Super Smash Bros Ultimate : Great game
Octopath Traveler : Good Game
Dragon Ball Fighter Z: Good game

The console is fantastic, but I would have loved more great games and very good game on it. I am not interested in flash indie games and not interested in Wii U Port (I have Bayonetta 2, MK8, Zelda BOTW, DKTF on Wii U).

It's lacking at software level for me who mainly like playing great games. 2019 look better with Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Astral Chain who are sure buys and other things like LM3, Zlda Link's Awakening.

Edit: Nevermind.
