does this mean that wii fit could be one of the best selling games of 08? possibly THE best selling game of 08 assuming it ships well enough?



the nintendo wii will outsell the ps3 and the 360 combined by the end of 2008.                           

        PS3 will out sell the 360 june 2010.                                                                      

  GOTY of 2008 is super smash brothers brawl.... hopefully.

Actually though, contrary to what you hope, I would like to present a little anecdotal evidence.

 

My mom, nurse practioner, came in the house today talking about Wii Fit. She heard Good Morning America on the radio and said the women were raving about it. She's not a Video Game person.

 

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that show by itself just sold a million copies.

 

...and even if this doesn't "prove" anything, I'd bet my house, it's indicative of the effect of GMA on Wii Fit sales, from a single mainstream television show.

 

That's the power of the blue ocean marketing strategy, imo. This is gonna be big. BIG. I bet my house Wii-Fit is gonna sell gangbusters. It's just unbelievable the hype this thing is gonna pull down. I hope Nintendo increases Wii production, cause, once again. BIG. I don't even plan on getting it, and I realize that.

 This doesn't mean it but other factors indicate Wii Fit will be one of the top games of 08.  It is established that GTA4 360/PS3 will be the top selling game of 08.

We Ski is a Wii Fit game so that explains why it's so high up. We Ski didn't do so well in Japan but in the US it should be HUGE.

Duh. And as far as I know, We Ski is the only Skiing game on the Wii...

That's actually 2 games.

 

...anyway, while I agree, I still don't think we can know for sure what the best selling game of 08 will be, before it even launches.

wii fit has no chance of coming close to gta4 numbers at that price, and before you all whine and cry about how ps3 and 360 games are only slightly cheaper, people with a 360/ps3 expect to pay those prices for a game, and for the casuals who bought the wii because its cheap and its games are cheap, aren't going to be happy spending 90$ for a "game".

if wii fit was 50$ i could see it getting close to gta, but at this price, not a chance.

I almost bought PES about 30min ago... but held off, due to too many other games coming - including my WiiFit preorder.

After reading about WiiFit on IGN, I'm fully pumped for it - it sounds like they have done a fantastic job of adding a virtual fitness trainer + lots of exercises. In many ways, WiiFit is the best product the home fitness industry has ever had.
