The thing is PS2 had a big price cut, PS4 did not until black friday.  Let see what happens after a big price cut.

It's interesting to look at how things have changed over the last decade or so.

Back during the PS2 era, big holiday discounts weren't much a thing but permanent price cuts were far more regular.

This has reversed and PS4 has gotten less permanent price cuts while getting larger and more frequent holiday discounts.

I don´t think PS4 will pass PS2, but it will be the second best selling home console in history, and that is not a small feat

PS4 WW is still tracking ahead of PS2. And seems that even for USA PS4 2018 will be able to match PS2 2005 at the end.
