Forums - Microsoft - What if Microsoft made a super smash clone? Would you buy it?

If they did a better job of cloning it than Sony did, sure! Could be fun to see some obscure characters from Microsoft’s past. Maybe Stubbs the zombie, or some piñata animals, maybe some grabbed by the ghoulies characters. Could be fun as long as they actually clone smash bros and don’t try to be too different like all stars.

They would have to make a buch better clone than Sony did if they wanted it not to fail.

What characters you think they'll do ? They acquired 7 studious too

They have Killer Instinct..... why would they do a cheap Smash Bro Clone?
I feel like the people that "enjoy" that type of fighter are already on the nintendo side, and doubt xbox fans would even care for one.

MS just need to push Killer Instinct more, instead.

Put those 7 studious to work on differnt things than a smash clone imo.

I think Microsoft has much more fitting characters than Sony. Also, this might be a nice opportunity to re-introduce Blinx, the time sweeper.

However, I also agree that changing the genre might work wonders. An arena shooter could be the best fit imo. That way they can still promote Killer Instinct next to it.

True, Microsoft needs to up it's game when using the characters it's acquired but almost never used.

Here's what they gave Banjo-Kazooie for their 20th anniversary; Basically nothing.

But on the topic of roster, it would go like this.

From BattleToads:

-Zits

-Rash

-Pimple

-Big Blag

-Dark Queen

From Banjo-Kazooie:

-Banjo and Kazooie

-Mumbo Jumbo

-Humba Wumba

-Jinjo

-Gruntilda

-Klungo

From Killer Instinct:

-Jago

-Orchid

-TJ Combo

-Spinal

-Fulgore

-Gargos

From Viva Pinata:

-Horstachio

-Professor Pester

From Perfect Dark:

-Joana Dark

-Elvis

-Mr. Blonde

From Conker's Bad Fur Day:

-Conker

-Berri

-Greg

-Don Weaso

-Heinrich

From other Rare games:

-Juno (Jet Force Gemini)

-Sabreman (Saberman games)

-J-Bomb (Blast Corps)

From Halo:

-Master Chief

-Sgt. Johnson

-Arbiter

-Grunt

-Brute

From Gears of War:

-Marcus Fenix

-Anya Stroud

-Dom Santiago

-Kait Diaz

-General RAMM

-Queen Myrrah

From other Microsoft owned games:

-Vince (Voodoo Vince)

-Ori (Ori and The Blind Forest)

Now just make a baby version of all those characters!. And then an opposite sex version. And you got yourself a roster. Maybe some Porches from Forza as well.

Don't forget Kameo!

(I'd give my big toe for a new Kameo game announcement)

Rare characters alone can make there own fighting game. Not including everything else MS owns.

OP

Banjo Kazooie (Banko Kazooie)

Conker (Conkers BFD)

Joanna Dark (Perfect Dark)

Elvis (Perfect Dark)

Rash (Battletoads)

Zits (Battletoads)

Pimple (Battletoads)

Master Chief (Halo)

Arbiter (Halo)

Marcus Fenix (Gears)

Cole Train (Gears)

Kameo (Kameo)

Ori (Ori and the Blind Forest)

Juelz (Recore)

Jago (Killer Instinct)

Sabre Wulf (Killer Instinct)

Kiam (Lost Odessey)

Juno (Jet Force Gemini)

Anything from (Viva Pinata)

Marius Titus (Ryse)

List can go on.

Xbox doesnt need a Smash game as they have there very own inhouse fighting game filled with amazing and unique characters. Id say it would do alot better than PS All Stars which had nothing but 3rd party characters with afew being PS owned/made.

Did you even saw the entire roster or you're just trolling? Only 5 of the 24 characters were 3rd party.

But yeah, I also think that a MS smash clone could have a big and diverse roster without resorting to 3rd party charactes, people need to stop saying MS only have halo, forza and gears.

Actually they have Rare catalog.  You have perfect Dark, BattleToads, Banjo, Conkers, Viva Pinata,   which comprise a decent list.  Then they could use their own catalog since MS has a lot of IP they do not actually use.  The question is that outside of Rare catalog, Halo, Gears, Crackdown, most of their other stuff is not well known.  The key is that MS probably would pay for other characters but who knows how that would end up.  I am sure they could fill up a decent roster but excitement for that roster is something totally different.

The real question is who would do such a game for MS.  Their current first party doesn't have the experience.  They could use the guys that do Killer Instinct or hire out 3rd party developer.

As for the question would I purchase such a game, depends if it looks like fun.  A well flesh out roster with unique abilities and fun element would definitely get my money.

Nope, I'm not much into Smash (bought PS clone at heavy discount) and don't have an X1 nor would buy it for this game.

I would try it via Gamepass.
