Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Pokemon gen 8 should ditch wild battles and random encounters.

Let's Go is great, but as far as the main series titles go, Let's Go is enough. Just wait for Let's Go Johto.

If you play in handled motion you don't use motion controls.

While a better option, don't you have to do the ball flick on the touchscreen? Wasn't keen on that either.

No in handleld a you have to do is press A but the timing is key to catching the pokemon.

Famitsu gave it 37/40 im sure they know more than your blind hatred about quality rpg

Famitsu don't know anything about anything.

They can say the same about you but their opinion carries weight and respect.

Well it will take 3-5 years if you’re asking for a Breath if the Wild open world and over 800 Pokemon species in HD and 3D. I don’t think Game Freak works like that.

It would be worth the wait for sure. But yeah, Gamefreak doesn't work like that, you are right about that much. As I said before, they totally lack ambition. With the kind of sales Pokemon gets they could easily afford to be more ambitious and give these games a bigger budget, but instead they give us tiny little incremental upgrades and changes each gen. And as long as their tiny little incremental upgrades keep selling 10m+ copies each, they will probably never change and do something more ambitious, like a truly AAA open world Pokemon game like I want.

What I’m wondering is if Pokemon fans are more than willing to wait 2, maybe 3 years, of no Pokemon? When I said 3-5 years to develop, it may possibly lead to maybe either having one remake or one third version come out if Game Freak is going to focus on the next generation of Pokémon. It all depends on how big or small their development team is. They are not likely to hire 300 people like EAD did for BoTW, especially if they want to stick with a particular budget range.

Pokémon mainline games have almost been a yearly thing with an exception of not having a game for year a few times. After RBY, they went right away with GSC and had a year or two gap before RSE. Then after that, it was pretty much a early thing until 2015. It’s an interesting thing that could use a worldwide poll.

I respect there opinion that Final Fantaxy XIII is a 39/40 game, and Final Fantasy XIII-2 is a 40/40 game... and Resident Evil 6 is 39/40....

Actually no, like many people I think their scores are wack and opinions have no weight at all.

Here's a thread discussing them, they are not respected: https://www.neogaf.com/threads/are-famitsu-review-scores-actually-respected-in-japan.1274515/

Kotaku even wrote an article saying not to trust their scores xD, not that I necessarily trust Kotaku either: https://kotaku.com/5520937/do-not-trust-this-magazines-review-scores

There are some rumors that they've had a team working on Gen 8 since even before Sun and Moon released on 3DS, so I'm hopeful that it will be the most ambitious Pokemon game yet, as that would give gen 8 at least 3 years of development if it releases in 2019 like Gamefreak says it will. However, team size matters, if there were only say 20 people working on gen 8 for the first year or two, it will definitely not be anywhere near as ambitious as I would like for it to be. I do wish that just once Gamefreak and Nintendo would try to make a AAA Pokemon game, with EAD or some other Nintendo owned/affiliated studio assisting Gamefreak with it if need be, but sadly if these AA incremental upgrade Pokemon games keep selling 10m+ each, there is no reason for Nintendo to risk a higher budget on a AAA Pokemon game, the profit margin on a AA budget game that sells 10m+ copies is pretty huge, Nintendo might not want to risk a higher AAA budget in the hopes of reaching 20m+ or even 30m+ sales on Pokemon again. Personally I think it's worth the risk to try it, as I do believe that a AAA Pokemon game would be the first Pokemon game since Gold/Silver to top 20m sales.

Yet their word is recognized and important so millions will stick with theirs

From other threads I see you're on a Pokemon Let's Go defend spree, and I ain't saying anything about the game, nor do I disagree with your original post, the only thing I disagree with is you chose Famitsu of all people to make your point, instead of any other reviewer who liked the game. xD

Ditch random encounters.
Keep battles for stronger pokemon than your level.

You are pissed that famitsu likes the games you hate, im pointing out this game is great and has over 80% ratings average worldwide so clearly you saying they know nothing about anything is false! Why wouldn't i point out to angry lets go haters how wrong they are about the game and their claims it deserves less than a 70/100 just because they hate kanto and no beating up wild pokemon
