3.  Shadow of the Colossus?
2.  Octopath Traveler?
1.  Heroes of Might and Magic 3?  (Yeah, I remember last year that you like HoMM3, while I prefer HoMM2)

Yeah, last year I gave an extensive hint for HOMM3, and it was guessed fast. This year I was a bit more obscure, but I thought someone might remember. But I am actually surprised you got Octopath Traveler with so little to go by. Shadow of the Collossus is wrong though, although I always think my #3 is kinda comparable to SotC in mood and motivation.

Is #3 ICO?

Also I remember HoMM3, simply because anyone who is a huge fan of this series sticks out to me.  HoMM2 is my #5 game, but I don't remember seeing this series on anyone else's list.  Then you go and put HoMM3 as your #1, so that sticks out in my head.

No.

It's so obvious, come on.

Well, this site is very console centric and the members are mostly too young to have played any HOMM. New World Computing was going under together with 3DO in 2003. And it was a PC game. if Ubisoft (who own the rights now) release the HD-remaster on Switch, the situation could change though.

And no, not ICO either.

I PMed my list a couple days ago by the way, not that it mattered much anymore at this point but I kept forgetting lol.

You did? It didn't get here well, it wouldn't have made a huge difference at this point and it's not like I'm just waiting for people to give me lists either, I've got so many to compile yet.

Mmm. It’s also not in my sent items.. Did I just mess up sending a message?

I recently also couldn't send a private message. Is messaging currently broken on VGC?

^^
No idea.

Also;

#4: I don't find a certain sound in this game annoying at all!
Hint 2: The sound is whiny though, and you'll hear it a lot, every time these flying things come to steal the one you're protecting, so maybe that's why people find it annoying. But really, you'll just need to get good.

Yes!

#9 Shovel Knight

New on my list

The only newcomer in my top 10 this year is Shovel Knight, which I played last year for the first time. Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove includes two extra DLC campaigns (and soon a third one), but the base game alone was already enough to get it all the way up here in the 9th spot.
Shovel Knight is a game that's heavily inspired by classic NES and SNES games, but it exceeds all of them in every way. The artstyle and music are both absolutely gorgeous. Every stage has its own theme, which makes them feel so much more alive. The story is the classic 'save the princess'-tale, but it's clever and funny in the way it's told. And the game doesn't use the classic artificial ways of implimenting difficulty. For instance, it doesn't let you start all over again when you die, you just go back to the last save point. There are no lives, instead you lose money when you die. This way, playing the game never feels like a chore.
Also, the gameplay is just so much fun.

#8 Super Mario Maker

Last year: 9th place

Super Mario Maker is a bit different from my other favourite games. It's not an adventure or RPG games, it's not a party game or mini-collection, and it's not a platformer. Well, it's partly a platformer of course - in fact it's by far the most extensive Mario game in existence, with millions of stages. Of course, most of these are pure garbage (including most of my own ), but some of them are far more creative and original than anything we've ever seen in a Mario game.
But like I said, it's not just a platformer. Creating your own levels is a big part of this game. It's very simple and accessible, yet there is such a wide variety of things you can do with it.

If there's one game that I want to be ported to the Switch, it's this one. There was a bug in my Wii U game which gave an error whenever I wanted to create a level on one of my profiles that were connected to the internet. So basically, I had to use two different profiles to create and to play levels, which ruined the fun a bit for me. Also, the level search is pretty flawed and could be done a lot better.
