We'll end rating this game the same at this pace, even if we started from opposite sides...XD. I want to give my final impression when the game is over, but considering i'm still on ch.2, there's a lot left to do and discover yet.

But it seems it will end alongside God of War, The Witcher III, Horizon Zero Dawn, Bloodborne and Uncharted 4 as my games of the generation (i only own a PS4 by the way).

Surely is a lot too do and I for one will be booting this game up for months to come on the end game and Hunting. Oh and If I may make a suggestion, as Tw3 is on your G'soTG list, Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 are well able to stand beside Tw3. They are must play RPG's, esspecially DOS2 and they have both now released on ps4. Don't let the isometric nature of them fool you.

Oh I played DOS1 with a friend a few hours, and I definitively played and finished twice Baldur's Gate II almost 20 years ago..... so I'm not a newbie of the "isometric nature" XDD. I was a PC gamer before a became a console gamer, so I've played mostly every PC classic from 20 years ago. I did not have a console as a child so PC was everything for me.... and the PS1 and PS2 of my friends.

I just played every PC isometric game available back then, Baldur's Gate, Fallout, Diablo, Age of Empires, Commandos, Starcraft,....Is just that with those kinds of games I prefer to play in a PC with a keyboard/mouse and i don't use PC for gaming anymore. I've always been a guy that prefer games that look cinematic, that's why Naughty Dog is my favourite developer. Open world games always looked to me boring and unpolished. I didn't understand the fuss with GTA III and similars back then but Oblivion first and later Assassin's Creed and Fallout 3 opened my eyes on the genre. After they started being as polished as single player games i started loving them too. Red Dead Redemption was a revelation because it was the first open world game that looked as cinematic as a single player game, and i loved it. Red Dead Redemption 2 seems so far to be the culmination of that style.

After now having played the game for many hours, I'm honestly baffled by the fact that nobody who reviewed this game seems to have paid any mind as to how atrociously cheap the AI is in this game.

Instead of operating on any sort of cone based field of vision, they all seem to simply have a rather generous radius in which they will detect absolutely everything the player does. As long as you're within this radius, it's completely irrelevant if the AI is facing you, or even if there are solid walls separating you. I suspected this was the case earlier, but confirmed it as a certainty after testing multiple times putting on my mask in scenarios with only one NPC around. I would do this from positions well behind them, and barriers that would prevent said NPC from even being visible to me on screen. The result was that they would instantly comment as soon as I put on the mask, and again whenever I took it off.

Not only is this massively immersion breaking, in what is otherwise such a stunningly realized world, but it also, far too often, results in you getting shoehorned into gunfights you not only didn't ask for….but took every available measure to actively avoid. This is incredibly frustrating.

One of the more creative missions.

I loved the part where they talk all dry about why Arthur doesn't have a wife and then it just cuts to them jumping up and down lol xD

this game has so many frustrating moments but still I can't stop playing. even if at times I just have to reset the game because of said moments and load up previous save .. I'm just blown away by the details. Some parts in the game look rough but most of it looks astonishing especially on XB1X. I like this more than Witcher III and maybe more than AC Origins and perhaps BoTW.

20 minutes driving a canoe...

Ha, I one upped myself and instead of boating I raised the bar by standing perfectly still for 20 minutes at a time! The game makes that surprisingly hard, cinematic camera kicks in after 2 minutes plus there is a good chance Arthur will change into a resting position after 6 or 7 minutes. Got to keep tapping the horse call button and then he still might take a break after a while.

It was worth it, awesome game for some time lapse photography! The variation in weather patterns seems endless. It's definitely the best game for weather and atmospheric effects. Screenshots can't do it justice, a video can.

Actually at first I tried going down the other river, however there is no boat available up stream. The only location is the Elysian pond and that's closed off by a low bridge grr. Eventually I stole a canoe in the bayou and peddled it up stream, but could not get past the beaver dam. (I wonder why dynamite is in the game, can't blow up anything!) So down I went from there yet it became a rather boring trip, long lazy curves full of crocodiles. I sped it up and from used a couple parts for the timelapse instead.

Another day procrastinating with the story. Every time I run into an NPC something seems to go wrong immediately. I free a guy that's being brought in by 2 other guys. All good right. However a witness shows up, I deal with the witness. Then the guy I just saved turns me in for murder, wtf. Timelapse photography in wolf territory doesn't end well either :)

I've never loved a game so much that has so many poor design decisions and frustrating systems. Thankfully, for the stuff that doesn't get better as the game progresses, they should be easily rectified if Rockstar can hear the complaints through the noise.

I respect that you atleast acknowledge that it has so many issues and systems that come in the way of having fun. That is all sometimes people ask when the defense force strikes. Lot of good things but some very poor design.

After almost 10 hours i think this is Best open world Game i Have ever played

Nice shots! Have you tried disabling HDR on the XBX? (Seems to be missing in game settings, you have to do it in system settings) That improves black level, it seems rather bright in town at night in that gif. Unfortunately HDR doesn't seem to add anything and only ruins deep blacks. Besides that you are restricted to YUV422 in HDR, half the color information for the horizontal axis instead of 4:4:4 full RGB. With HDR you basically throw half the advantage the X has away. (You still get 3840x2160 grey scale, yet only 1920x2160 color with HDR on, unless you use a HDMI 2.1 display)

I reload more in this game than any other, and avpid story missions more than in any other. At least it leads to many creative ways to have fun!

I'm still very early on, in chapter two. I've spent a lot of time exploring and hunting. But so far it's amazing and I've read it only gets better.

These games and the Fallout series really just obliterate what other developers try to do with open world games imho.
