Forums - Politics - 'Live Explosive Device' Targets CNN At Time Warner Center; Others [deskpro2k3 almost got blown up (again)]

I wanted to touch again on the video Trump released on his Twitter account. So today, said that the video is true but of course when put under the test we find out that its just another big lie. One of the things I have stated is that by Republicans dismissing Trump lies they have basically given him a green light to pretty much go hog wild.

We find out that the man in the video was not brought into the country by democrats or even allowed to stay her by democrats. Instead he arrived here illegally and was deported by the Clinton Administration. He later came back into the US and was deported again during the Bush administration. Last but not least, he came back again, was arrested by Trump hero Joe Arpaio for drug trafficking and released with reasons unknown. I guess the sad thing about this whole event is that Trump is using the death of 2 police officers to sprout clear lies. Any GOP voter probably should be insulted. Its literally seems as if the president consider his base as complete idiots and everyday he seems to gloat that he can tell pretty much any lie he wants and they will believe it without question.

The President is just a human being like everyone else. And no, I'm not excusing Trump for his dumb moments. However, NOBODY should be excused as well just because he holds a more insignificant role. If you're painting the spot for Presidency as something that is for an untainted divine figure then better look for something out of this world.

if your definition for an "untainted divine figure" is someone that hasn't publicly advocated for political violence I think there are a lot of angelic politicians out there. There are many gradations between Trump and perfect. Somewhere in the middle there is what I'd want for president. Largely just someone who isn't demonstrably an idiot and who at least appears to care about what is true or not.

I guess you missed my second sentence.

My argument here is regardless of who you are or whatever profession you have, you should be accountable for your actions. The fact that people are playing double standards saying this like Snoop whoever it is, is not a President, therefore Trump is still worse. Absolutely no.

Just wondering, do you believe that a person within a position of power and influence doesn't have to be held to a higher standard, especially if that person is elected into his position.  Also are you ignoring that certain positions have a greater reach and influence then your average.

Also am I reading correctly that you feel if Trump told someone to commit violence, the person who committed violence is worst then the person who advocated it.

No. Because everyone should be held in the same standard. The moment that one is given a special treatment over the other is when justice fails.

Judging someone for being "less" evil because they're just the average joe and not the president is grasping at straws. It's nothing but a scapegoat for bad behavior and just makes certain individuals to feel less guilty about their terrible actions.

Parents raise their children. Those children grow up and consume media and elect Presidents. Neither the President or the media is their parent, plus, they are all legally adults by then anyway. If Trump is more at fault, then those people's parents are even more at fault, and their parents before them. Don't blame the parents though, because it's not their fault that they didn't have a spouse, or time to properly raise their child because they were constantly trying to find work, or working multiple low paying jobs just to pay the bills.

If only there was a President who wanted to create more jobs and raise the wages of those jobs as much as possible, while also reducing taxes.

Anyone in a position of "Authority" should be held to a higher standard.

Why? Because they are supposed to be setting the example for others to follow.
They also tend to be individuals that are noticed allot more in the general public's eye.

From a justice/law perspective, they should of course be seen and treated as equals of course.

It’s not that direct. Trump is talking about criminals in general who are incentivized to come here and not punished. He’s also talking about democratic policies enabling immigrants via sanctuary cities, under the table jobs, and welfare. For example, I work with illegals that live in a sanctuary city (run by democrats). They 1) aquire social security #s illegallt by democrats. often liscenses too but usually agter 2) get welfare 3) get the most money on social security prior to it affecting their welfare status 4) get paid the rest under the table. i’m not saying GOP and crony capitalists aren’t also to blame. People like Flake and McCain directly lied to their voters countless times and directly went against policies of their constituients. These lying GOP are just as bad, but ultimately people vote binary. A vote for GOP doesn’t necessarily help Trump depending on the candidate it could even hurt them if they start division like McCain. It’s a supplementary video to everything else he does and says, and he can’t just go attacking everyone from the past that are not relevant today.

They're bound by the law as well. Your argument is irrelevant. Everyone should be held in the same standard of ethics. I'm done with arguing with you as you clearly think one rich crook is worse over a dimeless crook.

I'll say let's agree to disagree because nothing is being brought on the table to bring a fruitful argument.

That becomes subjective, though. Because, man, politicians have got to be the worst kind of example ppl can think of. The vast majority of them aren’t exactly the pinnacle of virtue.

Media/celebs can fall into the noticed a lot more bracket themselves, even moreso arguably. Can they be held to a higher standard then and condemned just as harshly for their actions? Do we pick and choose now who should be held in this higher standard? Can the media pick for us?

I feel like we should only hold others to the same standards we hold ourselves to avoid becoming hypocrites. But that’s me.
